I think volunteering is a great alternative if you don't find a meet-up that you like. As for meet-ups, they are for people who have shared interests as as well something in common. For instance, I recently joined a new singles Jewish singles group for people in their 40's and 50's. I will tell you ...

I could work on talking about current events and things like current shows.

For instance, I am watching a new show called "The Regime," which stars Kate Winslet

I saw the title of your post and the answer is, not at all. If you read through the bible, you will see that God always chose outcasts. For instance, Moses had a problem with stuttering. Also, God doesn't judge our outward appearances but our character as well as the heart. If you also read about th...

This one happened years ago during my first job Back in the day, I worked at a fast-food restaurant and my main role was maintaining the dining room. Back then, I didn't want to pay for my food, even with a discount. I also didn't ever communicate that I was hungry. I ate out of the garbage for a fe...

This one is so triggering...

One time while having a conversation with someone, another woman pulled her away from me. However, she felt threatened by me. There were lots of times when she would get upset whenever some of her other friends wanted to sit with me.

I watched a few videos where people were in the path of totality and I could not help but notice the bright explosion of light.

It was never my intention to get away from them, rather, I have been talking about them for other reasons. One of those is because they have lots of connections. However, I will stay quiet and probably work on my goals on my own.

We had great weather and great skies yesterday even though there were clouds in the skies. We had a partial eclipse where the 88% of the sun was covered. Temp slightly dropped and we had a slightly dim orange color which was beautiful.

Hi, I wasn't in the path of totality, rather, I was in the path of the partial eclipse. Only 85% of the sun was covered up a few hours ago. However, it's been 30 years since I witnessed an annular eclipse. Yes, the sun was completely covered up and I would like to see that again one day. During the ...

Hi: I feel invisible at work because my colleagues hate me and I think I know why. I work at a University and keep discussing my goals and what I want to pursue. I also feel like they don't understand autism that much even though they always preach about disability and inclusion. We used to get alon...

Here are a few other things to consider

1. Depending on the setting, some options might not be appropriate based on that setting

Examples: Roommates, colleagues

2. Having things in common -
Examples: Other people who are on the spectrum, interests

People like to gossip because they are either bored or want attention. Others do it because they are threatened by someone and try and hurt them.

Faking all of your interests while putting on a front with someone is a great way to break someone's trust.
