Absolutely not. I would be fearful on how the cure would change me. I would rather be alive and autistic, than dead and not autistic, or comatose and not autistic.

Unless you can do something like only needing to listen to a song once to memorize, then IMHO, you shouldn't be considered "unusual". I know that disabled people having talent astonishes people enough that there are technically lower levels of savantism (splinter skills and talented savants), but I ...

It's okay to do those "odd things", if the only reason why you're not doing it is because it's odd.

It's probably all in your head, like a placebo effect. In other words, you think it will work, and so, it will. But, that means it does work. :P Good luck!

I find the Jigsaw symbol offensive. I am a person. I don't have jigsaw puzzle pieces cut out of my face, because I am a person, and not a puzzle piece.

I'm doing a theoretical project on the Autism movement. This is mostly for HFA/AS because of the unemployment and more severe nature otherwise, so I was wondering what things can be theoretically like if people with HFA/AS gained powerful positions in the media (either mainstream or other). What ar...

LizNY, I think the most important is your own opinion.

People stim for different reasons--sensory stimulation, mental stimulation, comfort/self-soothing, or simply because it feels good.

My mom took that test for me over the phone 4 years ago. And yeah, it's normal in our society to teach young girls how to be "ladies", so what ends up happening is that the social skills that go over the head of many autistic boys are taught to, and learned by autistic girls. That could be why you a...

Curiously this also describes a prominent pianist in Australia named David Helfgot who is considered by many to be a musical genius. Both David Helfgot's and Albert Einstein's families have rejected the autism label despite both having speech delays as children. You know, maybe we shouldn't call th...

I tended to draw people when I drew as a child/teenager/young adult. Now, I draw trees a lot, or I'll take a picture of myself and edit it to oblivion on iPiccy.com. My avatar is an iPiccy'd version of a copyright-free azalea. All of my "art" pieces in my apartment are two posters of animals, a prin...

I can relate a lot to animals. I suppose I can be more like an animal than a human at times, particularly since it feels like, at times, that I have the flight-fight-freeze system of a prey animal. I can't identify with one particular animal, but I've always had people (99% of the time it's my paren...
