Thank you both! :)

I've been trying for over two hours but I can't get it to work. I'm trying to get pictures from avatar sites but WP seems to think they are the wrong type of file. I'll try again next week because I won't have much computer access over Easter.

Perhaps autistic cognition is one way to improve acceptance of emotional variance on and off the spectrum.

The beef I have is that people do this because it is "socially expected" for them to do. quote] Actually I think they mean it pretty literally - they want to make sure you're ok. Like someone said, if you just say that you are, that's the end of it. It's not hollow social expectations in this case,...

I've been selecting avatars from the site, but someone always picks the same one eventually. Could someone please talk me through the process of uploading one from elsewhere? I just want to find a photo of a plant or something and bring it over. Is it the same as when you copy a link and paste it? B...

I voted no. I had a very happy childhood but I don't miss it at all. That was then and this is now. I liked being a child when I was one, but I wouldn't want to be one again. LipstickKiller I miss the feeling of timelessness I was thinking something like this, partly the never having to keep track of...

I like the term Anbuend uses, self-identified. It makes sense.

Maybe you do try new things just not the same things she would like to see. Ultimately you decide what it is you want to do. Incidentally I went to a starwatching event a few weeks ago, although it was for the general public so I didn't have to talk to anybody. Also it was cloudy so nothing could be...

I have an appointment for assessment next month and am very nervous about it. I wasn't going to talk about it but there it is. I have to write a two-page summary of myself, then I have to talk about myself for two hours, don't know what else. I'm nervous about it for two reasons: 1. my communication...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6eqijrsbRrM I'll be very proud of myself if I managed to get this link to work. It's not a real video, it's just footage someone put up, but it's a good song. I particularly like the part that goes 'we stand in the Atlantic, we become panoramic' - it's such a good image.

This is possibly my favourite ever WP thread.

I'd be the "diet and relaxation" subtype. I've never had a breakdown, and my burnouts have kind of blended in with my shutdowns.

I voted no. I have some challenges, but NT life is not all hunkydory either. I'd post some links, but there's no need, people know from their own experience. I'd rather be me than someone else, all things considered. I'm sweet.

"Recovery" is different from "appearing normal". If a child has a lot of behavioural, social and emotional problems but then, presumably through various therapies and interventions, those problems vanish without a trace, then that child was not autistic to begin with, but was disturbed for other rea...
