I have a friend who studies something every day, and he is very knowledgeable about all kinds of things, like ancient history, astronomy, physics, philosophy. I feel like maybe I should try to do that too, but at best I'll watch a documentary on YouTube about the Romans or the Minoans, or about cons...

Even when having conversations with people you know quite well, do you feel awkward and tongue-tied and are constantly trying to think of things to say? I think that for me the most awkward are weird silences or non-sequiturs, because I feel pressure to say something and if I can't think of somethin...

The term is fine. Everyone knows what it means. Antisemitism is hatred of Jews. It doesn't matter that there are other Semites and therefore the word is not technically correct, because it's widely known that the term is meant to apply to prejudice and hate directed at Jews.

^Well, now you're changing your position from what you first called woke ideology to saying that a small subset of people who identify as woke subscribe to the positions that you mentioned. It can't be both. Yes, there are antisemitic people on the left and right, but the left as a whole strongly op...

It's also not true that people who describe themselves as woke see Jews as white and therefore privileged. You might recall an incident in which Whoppi Goldberg said on television that Jews were not a race and there was literal uproar from the public and she was, as a result, suspended from the sho...

They lost credibility with me years ago when they ignored the actual antisemitism of "woke ideology" putting Jews in the automatic "white privileged" category or even worse the "white adjacent" category which is nonwhite people who are mooching off of white privilege. ...

None currently but formerly Billie Joe Armstrong, John Cusack, Emilio Estevez that I can think of offhand.

I'm intrigued by tattoos but I don't think I would ever get one. I don't like calling attention to myself and even the clothes I wear are very plain, and I don't wear jewelry or makeup, so I think it would be quite out of character for me. I've seen some really nice ones but most of the time I don't...

I have a hard enough time saying hi to people I know. It's fairly regular that I have an impulse to talk to a stranger, but I never do. I get too anxious and worry about being too awkward. I tell myself it's not the right circumstances for some reason, or that I will, as soon as they walk over here...

She said to choose people over 50. Is this because you're over 50 and they're your age group, or because people over 50 might be more receptive to friendly chit chat? I think she believes that older people are more relaxed and more receptive, whereas younger people are more impatient and have thing...

Stress and anxiety can make everything more difficult. It seems like you are trying to do two things at once: deal with your anxiety and figure out what job to look for. I don't know if your financial situation makes the job-seeking urgent, but if you can, can you take the time and effort to work on...

I agree with funeralxempire and I also understand how you feel. I would be horrified if I had to interview someone and I would also resent the assumption that I just have people at my disposal that I can ask to be an interviewee, and the assumption that it's no big deal to interview someone. I think...

My therapist recommended recently that I try to make small talk with strangers, like people waiting in line with me, or the cashier and so on. She said to choose people over 50, because they are more likely to be receptive. Also I live in Texas where people tend to be friendly. The idea is that beca...
