Quote:
OK, god is a parable and not meant to be taken literally. Got it.

If that's what you choose, yes. If you choose to assume the universe might be created, you infer the existence of a creator and become a seeker. Everything else follows from that.

But in this case, when the facts were exposed, there was a general outcry and public opinion swayed the decision. Again I must say so what? An emotional mob is not the best source of morality and law. Well, I haven't noticed anyone calling you a woman hater around here and hope I never do. It's bee...

First please notice the United States had this discussion once and it was decided the civil rights of poor women were being violated and this was put to an end. I don't know about such a decision in your country. So? Governments aren't always moral, sane or even correct. They made the wrong decisio...

I'm happy to listen and argue, I'm not really a Christian myself, but I enjoy defending the faith these days, perhaps it's contrition for the boilerplate atheist-speak I used to spout as a teenager. The idea of a god creating the world and the other major parts of Christianity I find to be illogical...

Dear Atheists, Genesis is mostly parable and meant to be read as such. All non-fundy Christians need to take from the creation story is: Firstly the understanding that the world/universe is created and man, a product of a created universe is by extension created himself. It need not conflict with ev...

@Zenden

There's truth in what you say, laws affect the rich and the poor differently, but it isn't an argument for doing away with a law, it's an argument for imprisoning more rich people. No sane person would use that argument to try and get the laws against murder abolished.

Continuing for the omniscient teenage atheist: it states that if a women is monogamous before she is married she must be stoned to death by the men of the city? Yet Christians aren't running around stoning women to death. Seems on the whole they don't believe the Bible is the perfect and unalterable...

If the Bible was a perfect book written by a perfect being... This is probably the most damaging misconception for Christians, that the Bible is meant to be read literally as history and fact when it is a motley collection of parable, half remembered oral tradition, correspondence, prayer, poetry a...

You are already dancing around the grander answer: Women on the whole are not what the modern narrative tells you they are. To answer your original question: How Were Women in History able to love their Husbands even if said husbands actively thought and enforced the idea of how Women are 2nd to the...

They are outbreeding us, it doesn't matter if it is a 100 or 200 years but Islam will conquer Europe just as it has every where else it has spread because eventually they will be the majority and what happens in every Muslim country that they have a majority in? I used to be concerned about this un...

Something odd was going on. This paragraph in particular: I think historians will say it started in the 70s with the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan and the rise of the Taliban, and it's grown from strength to strength since then. The reformers have their own state now (though it's likely to be short...

There is something seriously off with the captcha, it won't let me post certain paragraphs. Trying to fix it now, maybe it is concerned about the concentration of certain words. I feel like I'm on some kind of watchlist now. Fixed finally, someone needs to tweak that captcha though, it took...

Hey. Back from holiday, I spent some time recently thinking about Islam and what's going on in the middle east with ISIS, these crass interventions by western powers, Muslim immigration into western countries causing friction at best, armed conflict at worst. As a conservative (not a Tory or Republi...
