Similar things happened to me on buses: one time, on a choir tour bus, I was sitting next to someone fat and I over-sensed the fat all around me, smelling the fat. I was freaking out and half asleep and shouting. Everything just felt wrong, I didn't know it was an autistic thing. It was on a bus fro...

My mom said I started talking at age one so does that mean I'm not autistic? I heard that in "high functioning autism" its harder to find the symptoms/signs early on. Is the beep test a hearing test? I know I had two of them, one at quite a young age and a second probably around grade 7is...

I remember a beep test. I remember running around outside during recess in elementary school, playing by myself. I didn't see a reason to talk to anyone and I didn't feel lonely. I was put in speech therapy and in fifth grade in "special education" for a few hours of the day. They made me ...

I've realized that I actually don't have a clear understanding of forgiveness. What does it mean to forgive? I've always assumed that it meant to change your mind and believe that what someone did actually was alright and then forget about it. But is it? Because if so, I'm unable to do that. I tend...

How many of you believe in God? Anyways, I do, and I know He doesn't make mistakes....therefore, i think my autism is a gift from Him. I know some people who have it worse might be angry with Him and try not to believe, I understand. I've been tortured with demonic voices, I've been raped, and I kno...

As for my last meltdown, I just had to get through it and get all of it out, and after it ended I felt so peaceful and relaxed.

I did Shotokan karate, kung fu, kajukenbo, capoeira, and taekwondo.. I did martial arts for about 7 years. I think my autism made me better at it. My savant thing. I channeled all of the sensory overload and social awkwardness into powerful and graceful katas/forms. Watch the movie Chocolate. It's a...

I vaguely remember being a quiet, overly shy child although my mom told me I started talking at age 1....though she had drs put tubes in my ears and said I had ear infections (I don't remember my ears hurting, but maybe I was screaming? I remember a beep test and not replying to the beeps.). I was a...

I feel least lonely when I am alone by myself away from people, just me and God. I shut down and let my mind drift off to space. I find that strange feeling beautiful. People take it away sometimes.

Thanks guys. I believe anything is possible. I am being tested for autism on Tuesday. Someone said that she "hopes they see what (she) sees in herself". Honestly I hope I get diagnosed, autism explains my life. My parents might have missed signs but I see signs of it everywhere now.

I believe I've been autistic all my life, but only started realizing it two years ago. I just assumed I was a quirky loner. I've heard of late onset schizophrenia, like mid twenties, do you think the same thing can happen with autism? It always being there but not on the surface, surfacing later in ...

I believe in true healing but why want a cure? Coping mechanisms, sure, but cure, no.

I'm 28 and look around 12-14. I plan on looking 12-14 when I'm fifty as well. I'm praying for that, will I have to hide?
