It sounds like you're putting a lot of pressure on yourself. Can you try to be nicer to yourself? Would you be putting that kind of pressure on someone else? If not, then why do it to yourself. It also seems like you might benefit from seeing a supportive and understanding therapist. They can help y...

What has helped me is to try to be consciously grateful of the good things I have. Some people suggest writing them down, but I find that's sort of like keeping a ledger and it invites comparing your "blessings" to those of others, so I try to be more generally grateful. This can include b...

I've been watching All Creatures Great And Small on PBS Passport. Very wholesome but still a bit stressful at times.

I just cut my own hair. I can't stand someone messing with me, and I don't know what facial expression to make or what to say. It's all incredibly uncomfortable. It's almost as bad as the dentist.

I have an uneasy feeling most of the time that is anxious and scared, but more specifically if there is something actually scary I feel like I can't handle it. I'm afraid of being in a car on the freeway, though I do it. Recently there was a terrible storm where I live, and luckily there was enough ...

I've always lived in cities and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else. If I was alone it would be particularly hard. If I lived with my partner I suppose I could live anywhere, but it would still be preferable to me to live in a city. I don't go out much but I like to have the option to go out to ev...

My own driving ability is limited, so this may not be useful, but I would start very very slow. Practice in an empty parking lot to begin with. When you are comfortable with that, try driving on small side roads with very little traffic. Then when you are comfortable enough with these easier situati...

Personally, and I don't know if this reflects how other people feel, I'd rather see someone start a new thread than revive a thread from years ago. It feel jarring to reread and rehash what someone said five years ago, and what is the point, since they are likely not here anymore.

I'm so sorry that you're feeling this way. It's hard to have a foot in both camps: the NT world and the ND world. I think I understand how you feel, though for me it's not quite the same. Hang in there.

I don't have a diagnosis but I first suspected it at age 31 when I read a book about mild forms of autism and recognized myself in some of the descriptions.

i wonder how many other people besides me intentionally limit their driving to essentials only, in order to minimize the danger of screwing up and crashing? I don't really have to drive, so I just don't. But I did for instance drive my mother to doctor's appointments but it was in a rural area that...

No. I would be absolutely terrified. It's not even that I'm worried that something could accidentally go wrong, I'm terrified of the process even if it all goes right. Never mind if it goes wrong.

I am scared of so many things it gets in the way of my life.

What I think is particularly American is the pressure put on women by society to be different than how they already are because they are not considered -- and society says they should not consider themselves -- good enough. This is a consequence of social media and is increasing world wide. I don't...

What exactly is "society", and how does "society" go about telling women how they should consider themselves? I think you already know the answer to both those questions and are just being argumentative. (And if you don't know I can't help you.) No, I really don't know. I often ...

Breast augmentation is very unappealing to me and even seems ghoulish and a...
