I went for my walk this afternoon, down to the waterfront. In the inlet, by the marina, there were dozens of geese bathing and grooming. It looked like a giant grand mal seizure of geese. Flapping their wings, rolling on their backs, dunking their heads,... I could not look away. It was hilarious. F...

You ask very difficult questions. People lie and that must be understood. Having a poor TOM, being bullied, and being used makes it harder for many of us. That sentence was taken from another person's excellent response to one of your great questions. I have been struggling with this problem for ove...

Possibly, your psychiatrist is trying to be encouraging. You can do it, I know it is hard and you make mistakes, but that is normal for you???

I voted for a couple of Republican mayors as a protest against being treated like an ATM machine. But, beyond that, never. The radicalization started by Reagan and Gingrich has led to a crazy theocratic judiciary that is unaccountable for its actions.

What makes me and my family so untouchable to freak danger?" Nothing. I never understood gambling. The odds are not good and I am risk-averse. But, life is a game of Russian Roulette and we have to play to live here. The risk of COVID did me in. Rejoining this NT world is not a motivating thou...

I would say that I am empathy challenged. Emotions are painful and I try to avoid them. One trick I use is to project my happy mask to disarm people. The way I see it, very few people get angry at a happy dog. This is not empathy. As others have said, empathy takes longer and requires more effort.

I would make a distinction between brainwashing and gaslighting. I have been gaslighted by the media and it confuses me to no end. The amount of false information can be overwhelming. George Orwell was very good about describing this in his novel 1984. So, I pick my sources very carefully and try to...

Sometimes, I just go ahead and do what needs to be done, trusting in the idea that it is easier to be forgiven for success than it is to gain permission for action. That is assuming that success is the goal. There are some projects, defense-related, where the profit is in the overruns and maintenan...

I thrive on situations where I have to be decisive.  Obstacles only occur when: (1) people are more concerned with fixing the blame than with solving the problem; (2) people are more concerned with how others will think and feel about the solution than with solving the problem; or (3) implementing ...

why do us Aspies have issues socially or with groups? I can answer for myself. In one on one situations, I have trouble reading, understanding, and responding to non-verbal signals to the point where I find myself getting triggered and panicking. In group situations, I quickly get overwhelmed by al...

I use to believe that NT understood the social world and then I started reading more and more. All the great novels and history books I could get my hands on. NTs are screwed up and make the world a very difficult place. Not all, there are many good people in the world. As to your father, he should ...

The temper tantrum in the beast is relevant to establishing criminal intent, i.e. the violent attack on the Capitol was the goal of the twice impeached former defeated ex-president.

I have been micro-dosing for about 9 months, 0.2 grams once or twice a week. And a few 0.5 grams as well. The experience has been fun. Occasionally, they knock an old demon loose and I have to put it back into its cage. In general, I found micro-dosing helpful in understanding empathy and other peop...

I feel the same way. I am avoidant and have social anxiety. What I am told by many is something simple. Most NT's do not remember the little mistakes or bigger ones. Since they also screw up frequently.
