Thank you all. I've made some progress but I'm still struggling. Staff here are mostly good. Psychiatrist doesn't like his patients though. I will ask the police to put it on the PNC that I'm autistic. That's a great idea. As it's definitely not the first time they've been called for dealing with m...

Has anyone had any experience of autism specialist supported housing? Would prefer UK experiences as I live in London. I'm due to be moved into one within the next couple of months. I'm I'm a psychiatric ward right now. Haven't been discharged yet because of a safeguarding alert about my mum who is...

I'm getting funding for autism specialist supported housing soon. And I'll be getting an increase in one of my disability benefits. I'll also be given housing benefit. The NHS has saved my life too. I would never be able to pay for my health care. Well I'm glad I don't live in America then. And ple...

Thank you both. It is a general adult psychiatric ward. The autism / LD ward is male only for some reason. They're looking for autism specialist supported housing for me as according to the staff I need round the clock care. I am worried I'll get kicked out of uni, although if I do, I'll throw the ...

I'm trying. My head is so f***ed as of late and I've been at 90% stress levels for weeks now. Also my mum is being abusive. Because my capacity for dealing with stress is 90% saturated, the smallest thing can set me off. I keep getting shutdowns too. I'm seeing the ward psychiatrist tomorrow.

They are looking into supported housing for me. Well I'm on a psychiatric ward now. I was sectioned by the police. I was found walking on a motorway mid meltdown. The police jumped on me and I went into a severe meltdown. There were five police officers, a police van, car and an ambulance. I was ki...

ow. :| i am curious about the seemingly random appearance of a hammer. there is a significant lack of education among western police in general about dealing with disabled people. i believe it's too true. what was the outing for? The hammer was in a drawer and I grabbed it. I was at home. I agree w...

I'll ask about therapy but the last thing the NHS gave me was a psychologist who had no clue about autism and who did things like expose me to loud noises and try to prevent me from reacting. The meltdowns were triggered by cumulative stress including uni and also my mother being abusive and drunk ...

I was nearly arrested last night during a severe meltdown. I nearly hit a police officer with a hammer but was restrained by the police officers until the paramedics came. The police and ambulance was called to my house last night as the neighbours heard me fully fledged screaming and smashing stuf...

Thank you. "High functioning" classic autism / HFA makes sense. Apologies for the confusion. I do not appear "high functioning" at first impressions. I rock back and forth, chewing at my hands, and if you were to put your hand on my shoulder, I'd start screaming and probably hit...

I have no interest in relationships. I have two friends and my parents. That's enough.

My parents were told I'd be "challenged for life" when I was in nursery. I actually have a very high IQ and I am in university now. The nursery staff only saw my behaviours and my developmental delay, and not my abilities.

My tutor at university said (in the presence of my support worker, who is with me all day at uni) "we don't really have experience of anything beyond Asperger's". (he is generally flippant like that and comes up with a lot of stupid comments) I went on my university's disability pages and...
