Bought a health insurance policy through Healthcare.gov. The charge showed up on my card the next day. Two weeks later, the insurance company can not find my application. It is somewhere in the system, waiting to be processed. Spent over an hour on the phone with the insurance company. The only sugg...

Wow, I see myself in the replies. I am lucky. My parents gave me a good education and a head start in life. Being good with mathematics, computers, finance and data provided me with a career. About ten years ago, there was a story on CNBC about Asperger's. A light went on in my head. This could expl...

Theres a 300-level engineering statistics course somewhere in the future. I'm willing to bet they do more things with math that I hadn't imagined. I think the problem I had with probability is the same problem I've had anywhere else, it's just plugging the math into the situation. Combinatoric math...

I started a new job recently and in the beginning people seemed social towards me. I couldn't always be the same way back but I would smile, nod, say a few phrases here and there. Now though I have noticed very odd reactions towards me from the majority off my co-workers. When we are walking past e...

Looking at jobs, i found one and said to myself "wow, I've done all this stuff before and I'm good at it and I'm going to apply" then... I saw a detail and said "potential problem with a small portion of job duty, maybe I shouldn't apply" I'll apply and address potential issue i...

Sorry to hear of your loss. There is a hole in your life. It takes time to heal.

Is there anything specific that is troubling you?

This topic is relevant to me. I am a target for an elderly aunt's rage. Thanksgiving was a nightmare. She could barely control her hate and contempt. I did my best to deflect it. But, it hurt, to my very core. Every minor faux pas, attempt to be amusing or even charming was smacked down. She was spi...

Yes, I have trained myself to stay focused on a single task. Being interrupted causes me great consternation. This was especially troublesome in a busy work environment.

I have large time buffers around my activities to address the problem you are discussing.

Differential Equations looks like it'll help bridge the gap between a real-world situation and a mathematical equation. Probability is like a giant blind-spot for me, I haven't even taken statistics. The sequences and series part of calc ||| was disorienting. I understand. For me, probability theor...

I just had another thought on this topic...in my humble opinion i also think that because it is often a hidden disability, it is not seen as a disability as much as a character flaw. People who don't understand autism or don't pick up on it right away see us as weak, annoying, or irritating--and th...

My favorite part about Spock was the confusion/tension with McCoy and Kirk. It cracked me up and gave me hope.

Wanting better for your family and children is noble. Protecting them and providing for them is difficult. There are people I see as everyday heroes. They face down and battle their demons everyday. People don't see it. All they see is a person, a bit odd, who is struggling. Most just walk away, to...

Thank you, this topic is full of honest and intelligent replies. It makes me think about who I am in this world. My life is easy. My parents did their best. They had their own demons to fight. I was well educated and given a head start. My pain from living in this world was not addressed. Which is o...
