Ive no idea. Actually, lately, i have started to wonder if labelling myself is even beneficial. It seems to cause more confusion than anything else. It boxes people in and results in them developing often erronous and limited beliefs about themselves (ie I'm 'add label here' so it means i can achiev...

In order for one to be autistic, one has to have had autistic behaviors in infancy or very early childhood. I seems very much like PTSD---based on what you wrote. Did you have any speech delays as a child? Any delays, period? Even if it turns out you're not autistic, you're still very much welcomed...

I don't know what I was like as a young child, I have very few select memories and have heard a few things but most of my life is a blur, my sense of time is awful, so I can't place an event I remember on any particular timeline. I don't remember playing with toys until I was a bit older, I preferr...

Hi, ive been curious about this myself as I grew up in a violent household and experienced a lot of physical and psychological abuse when I was growing up. I have symptoms of both ASD and PTSD though so it's very hard to tell. Yes I am socially wary of people due to said abuse and bullying when I wa...

I do indeed get regularly drunk or 'Smirnoffed' (as I call it, mostly because it's the only thing I will drink, usually mixed with Ice and Mineral water).

Why? Social isolation and loneliness.

Rigidly held beliefs + inability to read people well = Inadvertently coming off as a "know-it-all" or "arrogant", when you absolutely never ever meant to be :( It really isnt always about beliefs, sometimes people really are wrong, and their brand of being wrong can actually be ...

Reading in a letter about me when i was sixteen that mine were below the age level. That totally contradicts what I have read about me from when I was 8 that I was well socially developed and reading in my IEP from when I was 8 how well my social skills had improved after being put in a mainstream ...

Honestly? I don't consider myself to have poor social skills. In my experience, NTs have a very limited understanding of everything from the full range of human emotions to scientific theory to just about anything in general. So obsessed are they with their social constructs they forget to develop o...

I pulled out of formal diagnosis partly for this reason as just being labelled as having an ASD, to my mind, can be somewhat misleading. The other reason was because I was being treated as though I was intellectually backwards by people I told about the referral. I have difficulty with social commun...

An NT told me once that I was too honest and that most people are "speaking in code"- since then, I think he may be right but I have a couple of questions for an NT: 1) Why don't you say what you mean/ how often do you "speak in code" in a conversation? 2) If somebody else is sp...

I have an ASD and I have wondered this almost all my life from the moment I began to become aware that this does happen. And I have always named it in my head "speaking in code" too. Things like: "So I guess you have a lot to do today? You're probably itching to get on, right?!"...

So don't be so threatened by them or feel less than they. The majority of them will never do anything really important with their lives.

So how special are they really?

This happens to me all the time. It makes my work a lot more difficult. I miss cues, or I phrase things strangely, or a mix of the two. Or I just freeze up in the middle of making a point because I consider another option or a rebuttal to my point, so I'm trying to resolve that in my head and finis...

Stop blaming yourselves (if you are at all doing that..ive had a little vodka due to social isolation distress). Anyway, I have several aspie friends and was once up for assessment for Aspergers myself (until everyone NT like started treating me as learning disabled when I am not so I decided to pul...
