When I was young I was mistaken for a boy as well--but I assumed it was because I had short hair and didn't wear girly clothes. If you look at little kids you will see that many girls wear pink and purple and light pastel-y colors with hearts and accessories; it's almost a rule at that age. Then whe...

I'm really enjoying gardening lately. I have lots of nice flowers, vegetables and herbs and am researching how to prune different shrubs. I keep thinking, "why haven't I tried this before?" I'm also really interested in mushrooms (have been for years), researching organic chemicals, and playing reco...

Your brother was probably stressed out about his wedding. He will probably regret what he said afterwards... and it must have made him look really bad to all the other family members that were there.

I think you're right, aspie7120. But it's harder for us.
Another thing I want is acceptance from NT people. If they were more accepting, I would be happy. I wouldn't want to get rid of AS; I wouldn't trade my brain for anyone's! :D

The one thing you should always do is set the oven timer, even if you are only boiling stuff. Then it doesn't matter so much if you get sidetracked.
Assemble all the ingredients & tools you need to cook first. After that it's easy, you'll see. :)

It's great that such schools exist, but obviously they aren't very widespread or accesible. I wonder if, as KingdomOfRats writes, it is necessary for us to be integrated into the mainstream world. If there was an AS network that could place people in government-funded jobs, such as research scientis...

Maybe such a thing already exists, but not to my knowledge. What does everyone think: would it be beneficial to open schools exclusively for people with AS/autism? Or should we learn to function alongside NTs by having the same education as they do? My opinion is an aspie school would be a great ide...

I did some research into this tale and found that actually the boy was rescued, but his "portfolio" was swept away in the river. Interestingly, the wikipedia article states: "...Apart from... "Fidgety Philip" (Zappelphillip) and John-Look-in-the-Air (Hans-Guck-in-die-Luft), he wrote other descriptio...

I forgot to mention that I stumble on a daily basis... but I can usually keep my balance. :?

It reminds me of a kid's story about a buy named Hans who always looked in the air when he walked. I think eventually he walked into a lake and drowned or something.

G'day Coolman and welcome to WP. First, read Datasages' advice on dating. Its stickied somewhere. The following advice is something I have never tried (I am just not able to, so good luck), but I believe it helps. Don't "rush in" Give her a hug and a kiss on the cheek when you first see her. Sit ne...

She was probably just dating casually; not looking for a serious relationship. Many people are afraid of commitment. I wouldn't take it personally... it's good that she showed her true feelings instead of stringing you along. If you hadn't said "I love you", things wouldn't be any better; her heart ...

The 8 to 1 ratio is definately out of date. In a recent article I read that it was 4 to 1, but even this is not accurate. It said that many men with AS tend to be more aggressive, which is why they get diagnosed, whereas women who are struggling are less noticable.

If you don't screw up, you will never learn. That's not just as AS thing, it's the same for all people. Nobody gets it right the first time. Never be afraid of failure!
