I agree with the above that ASD involves a lot more the introversion. I have also seen extroverted ASD's .
But in the USA I do think introversion alone is a disadvantage, and strong introverts are discriminated against.

IMHO it belongs here.

More of the same BS. Aspergers is a normal human malady that is over diagnosed. The "Aspie" interviewed seems to have no problems and does not think he is autistic. More "confirmation" for the Autism Speakes crowd.

The weird thing is that all I want to do is hyperfocus on the things I find interesting, and that's about the only thing in my life I have seemingly limitless energy for. I have this overwhelming need to just be alone to read or write or paint (all things that recharge me), but I can't do that for ...

Though not part of the diagnostic criteria for ASD, many aspies have executive dysfunction. That means we have trouble with scheduling and being organized. For me, I think it is part of the hyper focus that sometimes comes with AS. I get lost in a zone and time just flies by. I mean to get around t...

The style, flow and choice of words are going to be different Thank you for the insight, ASPartOfMe, could you please elaborate , to help me understand better? I am trying to figure exactly how this works myself. The posts here compared to NT boards here are much longer, paragraphs are longer, long...

I know men get hard when they are aroused, but from my experience with men, their penises don't just spring up on a whim. That would be funny, though. You haven't met the right men then. And its certainly not funny, at least not for the men, embarrassing rather. Just the early morning bus ride to t...

It's odd to me that seldom does anyone here wonder how Aspie and autistic people lived BEFORE these conditions were recognized? My father was ALWAYS worried that I wouldn't have decent work. We never had a normal conversation, and he lived to be 92... and I took care of him for his last 5 years. He...

Aspies may talk about themselves because for the first time in their life they can talk about their traits with people who will at least partially understand where they are coming from and what they are feeling. Don't assume because people are talking about themselves that are not interested in othe...

What about autistic children? And those who don't have an effective means of communication? (There are AAC users who oppose being cured, by the way.) They won't be able to opt out of a cure if their caregiver wants it and they don't. Anyway, I have no problem with people wanting to get cured, but i...

Interesting that some people are still being diagnosed with Aspergers dispite all the "Aspergers is dead" posts.

When you think of it, Autism Speaks is raping those of us who are on the spectrum of our dignity. Only if we internalize their message. Unlike most victims of literal rapes we have a choice. As of now they are not pointing a weapon at us and saying submit or die. I do not like rape analogizes. I th...

The Beatles are fine, but I'd say the ladies you mentioned (especially Adele) were probably more influenced by the late, great, Dusty Springfield. It does not have to be the same sound as 1964. But if the Beatles and the original invasio...

Even though I would be scared both to do it and come back I say yes out of pure curiosity. Everybody here talks about NT' s guesses about them so it would be nice to find out what it is really like. It would help me not only find out about them but myself. The question that most fascinates me is wha...
