This is an interesting thread.
My discomfort with social situations had definitely developed to deliberate social avoidance over the last year, because I just don't see the point of socialising.
Outside of work, if I wasn't married I think I would be a complete hermit! |

They would have done better to call it Social avoidant personality disorder.....I thought it was somebody who avoided everything. Why can't they get such a simple thing right? There's another one called social anxiety disorder, seems to be pretty much the same thing. I suspect those labels do more ... |

Personality disorders tend to be fairly severe. Avoidant personality disorder is like social anxiety combined with severe agoraphobia. It's being afraid of interacting with people and being afraid of leaving your home, and just spending as much time as possible alone to avoid this. But I'm not real... |

I do this all the time. And i don't give a f**k. I do this usually with people who try to change me - if they don't like me, they can go to hell. For me they don't exist. Is that simple  When i did otherwise, they just laughed in my face and played 'smart' with me. So no, i'm not tolerant ... |

My friends have never heard of AS and the so called stare is known to them as the Joseph Stare. Should I tell my friends about AS and how it affects me or not? Any answers would help me on whether or not I should tell them. Note almost all my friends are NT's and that's a good few friends on NT sta... |

Do you often ignore people when you don't wish to communicate/hang out/whatever? Rather than just make up some white lie or something about why you don't want to hang out/cant talk for long, etc.? It happens to me - very often. The length of time I will ignore them ranges from a few hours, to years... |

I took this Personality Disorder test tonight and these are my results. Seems like my highest scores are in Borderline and Avoidant. I guess I already knew about those. I didn't think I may be paranoid or schizoid, though. News to me. I guess you never know. The link to the test is below. Paranoid:... |

That is a very good question. I would be considered very mild, because I can mostly pass as normal. I can take care of myself. I can hold a job. I can keep up my end of a conversation. I can dress in a way that is not too unusual. I am capable of figuring out basic social rules by watching people. ... |

I guess it's asking whether you can look at a person and "just know", instantly, that they're beautiful (or not), as opposed to learning what others consider to be beautiful and applying those criteria to the person to determine whether they're supposed to be beautiful. I definitely have such a con... |
