If you had things you wanted to do, you could go do them. But it seems like you don't actually want to do anything. If you don't want to do it, you're not really missing out. Missing out means not doing something you wanted to do - or not doing something you'd like to try, but haven't yet. I enjoy r...

Nah - plagues are unleashed by gods, and Florida is a land forsaken by gods. Florida residents need no further punishment from a deity, as living in Florida is it's own punishment. My money is on drugs, or parasites. I wouldn't rule out drugged-up parasites... And as far as drugs, doesn't even have ...

You said previously that autistics lie differently that those who are not. Your explanation as to how that was so, says that they lie like everyone else does too, which make it seem that it isn't different at all. And as to being less able to spin elaborate lies, I know plenty of neuro-typical peop...

While I would agree that autistic individuals are less skilled at lying, some / many can definitely still try to lie. If anything, they just lie differently. Differently? How do you mean? Lying by omission, exaggerating or downplaying, using half-truths or partial-truths, gaslighting, excuses... no...

Have you had to consciously make yourself "seem" interested in others to form real connections? If you're faking interest, then it's still not a real connection. That's not how that works. If you can't bring yourself to actually be interested in other people, faking it isn't going ...

4 stone / 56 lbs is a significant amount of weight to lose. 18 months is a reasonable period of time for this to occur. Good on them. I lost about 7 stone / 100 lbs in about a year in 2008. Went from nearly 21 stone / 290 lbs to around 13.5 stone / 190 lbs. Kept it off and stayed around 190 for the...

Likeability comes from being able to connect with others on their terms. You're not expected to connect with everyone on every level - just the people that matter, in the ways that matter. Who do you want to be liked by? Confidence comes from experience. There is no hard and fast shortlist of steps ...

Last night we watched Babes in Toyland (1961). They got to the part where they were selling Tom to the Gypsies, and I thought "oh-oh! THAT wouldn't be acceptable today, with the implications about Gypsies!" Song of the South I guess was banished. Peter Pan (1953) had that politically inco...

^^^ THIS I was 30 when I got my Associate's. Mid 30s when I got my Bachelor's. 40 when I got my Master's. Nobody cared. You shouldn't either. Not everyone will be 18-20 anyways. People go back to college for all sorts of reasons, at whatever period in their life they're able. Not sure what differenc...

You can repeat yourself as often as you like. Simply repeating yourself further isn't likely to make either of us agree on this point however. I've had enough poor therapists and poor therapy to last me quite some time. There are plenty of therapists (including occupational and speech/language ther...

all the more reason for therapist and client to be on the same page and for their advice to be on point - not fobbing off client's to look to the internet for un-vetted, questionable advice. Pointing a client to youtube resources that they haven't vetted for appropriate content is a red-flag. I hav...

People can learn social cues, but like everything your personal experience may vary. If you have difficulties in certain social situations, your therapist should be able to help you. Its not a good sign if they are pointing you to youtube and telling you to figure it out on your own however. Being ...
