Disorders of the brain can’t be neatly separated by thick steel walls. Those diagnosises were invented in the mid 20th century or before when knowledge of the brain was non existent to tiny. In the future maybe all born organic brain disorders will be simply labelled autism and then each broken down...

Its ok in a medical sense but not good when used as an insult. The irony i suppose if someone was severely intellectually disabled would they really know or care? would they not have more important things to care about. You cant really ban words anyway its like wack a mole, it just migrates to anoth...

Most of us do. Many religions view life as some sort of lesson that needs to be learned along with reincarnation, with punishment given for suicide. Just imagine if it was all true and having to re live your life again as punishment because you cut it early. You’ll find life is short anyway once you...

There is no diagnosis for NT because it’s a control group in science i.e unaffected. You can’t prove a negative. ASD is regarded a disorder that’s diagnosed by positive symptoms by biological science, just like having COVID 19 is a disorder. You can go for a Covid Test and it will come back negative...

Aspies are supposed to have poor fine motor skills, according to the original diagnosis by Hans Asperger.

Can any aspies say they were good at drawing or painting when they were a kid? or now? If so what do you do portraits or landscapes?

Very true autistic people should have the same right to life as neurotypical people. The problem is anyone can be a parent, some are barely capable of managing a typically dev child let alone one that requires round the clock care. Not saying we should go back to the old asylums but parents are usua...

Unfortunately many Neurodiversity supporters will keep promoting the red herring of “accommodations” as a total solution and alternative to biological treatments. Obviously this is a distraction from the real barriers of employment like executive functioning that usually comes with autism. A major b...

Well meaning but useless. Many autistic people can’t even make a cup of tea let alone have the executive functioning level to do and even hold down a job. Unemployment and poverty will always be super high among autistics until good biological treatments are created, that allow us to join the human ...

It’s unlikely these labels will last in the future. It appears there are many different autism’s but the brain has a limited ability to express them causing the overlap of symptoms. In the future maybe 30 years, all those disorders will be broken down into their relative genetic / biological faults ...

There’s a bit of a contradiction It never specificities what is meant by “speech delay”? at age 2 or 3 for example:- 1.A normal conversation just like NTs (invisible disability) 2.Just saying a few words but filled with echolallia and other random useless speech that kids on the autism spectrum say ...

Aspergers was always known as a mild form of autism, which is diagnosed later in childhood or adulthood because the symptoms are Usually invisible to others. Many of those with Aspergers can lead relatively normal lives like live on their own, get a job maybe form romantic relationships. Those with ...

“The Night Clerk“ on Netflix

An interesting good movie that gives an interesting portrayal of ASD through the leading character from falling in love to dealing with the law:

NT means N euro T ypical. It's not equals to mentally healthy or strong or not dysfunctional. NOT Autistics are called Allistics. Technically all NTs are Allistics, yet not all Allistics are NTs. That's my basic definition at least... As Edna states correctly it just means those without born mental...

It’s not just NTs I’ve heard autistic people say they are psychopath as well probably not understanding the difference between problems with theory of mind and devious charm and manipulation to get what you want. That said I personally believe the Neurodiversity paradigm has narcissistic elements to...
