Is moving out of the house when you're of age a possibility? If so, it may be best to wait until you've moved out to come out. That way, there's absolutely no way your mom will try to throw you out. If not, well, I wish you luck. You know your mom best. I never had to come out as autistic to my pare...

Being cold is a stim for me. I love it! I get a rash whenever my skin gets hot. I figured out in the 9th grade it has nothing to do with the sun when I sat in a packed gym for an assembly and got the rash.

I voted "no", but I have incredibly slight ocular ataxia due to my ataxic CP. It's so slight, not only does it not affect my life at all, but an optometrist would have to be looking for it to even notice.

Unfortunately, I'll travel to see California family in June, and to my parents during the holidays. :?

Fortunately, I'll likely travel at least once to see my friend. :D

Well, totally different reasons, but I was also getting into trouble, because I wanted to be part of a medical research who had to do with ASD. Since then I don't do it anymore, because I also have to protect my rights. I was in that programm, but didn't wanted to finish, that why this particular p...

Ableism is discrimination against the disabled.

I don't mind being studied, but I don't want to be "cured." The good points of my autism outweigh the bad. I'm trying to find the "good" in my disability, so yes, I don't want to be cured. Treatment? Maybe, if it actually helps me and isn't just along the lines of "We'll get you to look normal, eve...

Well, you could take a teddy bear or other stuffed animal, but that might be seen as unprofessional. It might be okay in other settings, though.

I'm not an electrical engineer just because I can not afford to get my broken hard drive repaired. No, I am sorry. I can understand myself a lot better than any pediatric diagnostician can. Even though I have no medical knowledge, I can pick up the DSM or ICD manual and understand the criteria for ...

The concept I discussed in the OP of this thread is more along the lines of moving into an existing community near other Aspies. Such a location could be anything from an apartment building owned by Gigantic-REIT, to a building owned by another Aspie. I'm not referencing intentional communities in ...

Unfortunately you have a developmental disorder that often causes people to mature slower than most people. Purely as an example, while you might still be into pokemon your friends might have moved on to devoting their attention to alcohol and sex. While that might be a good explanation for their b...
