Please tell him. When I realized in college I had Aspergers, it was a relief because I no longer felt like I was so inadequate, it wasn't a personal character flaw or my own lack of effort that I wasn't like other people. I wish my parents would have realized this and talked to me about it. It might... |

Hm....my parents wanted me to do a lot of team things as a child and I absolutely hated it. My one year of middle school basketball was really terrible. However, team things are the only way to learn social skills......it is a dilemma. I would say that you should help your child to find a social act... |

Schizoid PD and other personality disorders aren't real medical conditions. They are nothing more than labels that a bunch of people who think they are better than everyone else give to people with personalities they don't approve of. Just because someone doesn't like your personality doesn't give ... |

Eugh.....I don't like Jenny McCarthy. When she was on Oprah she sounded like a complete idiot. It makes me sad that simply because she is a celebrity with a pretty face people listen to her and think she should be honored, regardless of whether or not what she says is backed up with research! |

persons who are schizoid do not desire relationships, and do not take pleasure in relationships, wheras i believe many aspies do. furthermore, persons with schizoid often have magical thinking or cognitive disruptions, and i would say most AS people are logical and fairly smart. |

Hm.....my AS traits definately get worse in stressful situations, and they definately get better when I am calm and relaxed, such as in a familiar enviornoment or when I've had a few drinks. I have also heard people say that anti anxiety medication helps with AS. |

Wait, so actually the title of this post is inaccurate: adults do NOT grow new brain cells. The cells they already have are plastic and can grow new connections. Except not axons....those cannot be regrown. |

I think the myth stems from the fact that the brain cannot actually regenerate lost cells or create new cells. You will never have more brain cells than you started with. Once your spinal cord is severed, it will not grow back. Once neurons are destroyed due to disease, they will not grow back. Inte... |

when i was younger my mom would always yell at me for rolling my eyes at her. even though i never once tried to do so, or even knew i was doing anything different with my eyes. it must be an aspie thing, because i have never heard of anyone else having this problem. |
