Strangely enough it never occurred to me until very recently that you had to ask them to do every single thing. I assumed that, if it seemed like something in particular was wrong then they'd at least suggest it before proposing some diagnostic testing, to rule the thing out if nothing else. I didn...

Yes! Not in that specific situation, as I rather like simple adding tasks. But anything where I've been bumbarded with too many small requests in a row without time to process will make me cry. Totally embarrassing. That's why we have the autism diagnosis. I also have auditory processing disorder. ...

Either way, it's easier for me to feel close to people who share my directness. Wow I hadn't thought of it that way, but me too...definitely. And on the other hand it is very difficult for me to feel close to people who are not very open or direct with me. I think most NTs probably don't understand...

I am the same way, except I seem to be able to forget about things even when they are right out in the open where I can see them...and trip over them.

The biggest reason why this limit is not reached is a lack of awareness for neurodiversity: If you pretend too much being neurotypic, how on earth should we get how to best cooperate with you? It would have made a lot things easier for me and for others, if I had known 20 years earlier what I know ...

Do we really have trouble reading body language? or do we just not read the affected body language that humans put on as a result of being concerned with social status? I can read animal body language and facial expressions just fine, and vice versa they seem to read me just fine too. And I can read...

My favorite job was working as a delivery driver...this just suited me to a tee. But you have to really like driving and I know many autistic people don't drive or can't drive. I also liked working in a cash office. Maybe a bookkeeping or data entry job? Payroll processing? Stocking, especially over...

I was a quiet baby, and I never went to sleep very easily. My mother said she would have to lay down with me to get me to go to sleep, and I would just lay there looking at her with my eyes wide open. I remember having the feeling that I was an adult in a little baby body.

I can't either. It just turns to gibberish and I have no idea what the person is saying anymore.

Okay I think this is what it is, I'm just not sure what causes it for me. Pseudobulbar Affect http://www.pbainfo.org/science The Science of PBA PseudoBulbar Affect (PBA) symptoms are frequent, uncontrollable outbursts of crying or laughing in people with certain neurologic conditions or brain injuri...

When I got diagnosed with ADHD, there was one test they gave me that was really stressful. They called out a series of numbers and I had to add each number to the previous number they had called. I couldn't do it - I couldn't even keep my mind on listening to the numbers, much less remember the prev...

A lot of times I feel like I have delayed reactions to things, and I don't know if it's because I really have a delayed reaction or if it just takes me awhile to recognize how I'm feeling. But what I've been noticing lately, is even when I start to have strong physical signs of emotion (like tears w...

I used to hear the commands to smile constantly growing up and also the phony-sounding "what's wrong" or "it can't be that bad" with a pouty face. Hardly anyone ever says stuff like that anymore but I feel like it was so ingrained in me to smile that I just do it anyway. I hate f...
