I hope not. I like to keep personal things personal. This. Only my immediate family knows I am autistic. They know a a decent amount about the support groups I attend. I have only mentioned briefly I go on autistic internet forums but have not named Wrong Planet and I doubt I will. My discussions o...

With Black and White thinking dominant "50 Shades of Grey" would never be a best selling book. The song "Blurred Lines" would never be be in the top 100 best selling singles never mind the best selling single for 11 weeks.

I am still at college but I am already very scared of jobs. I fear I will end up underemployed. 1- I think I wouldn't be able to show the interviewers and employers how good I am, 2- I think it is going to be hard mostly because of anxiety and sensory overloading and social skills and executive fun...

Yes, this is why I need to constantly remind myself, "Rocket, keep your thoughts to yourself". Somehow how I figured out decades before getting diagnosed that saying what I really thought was the lesser of two evils

I know what I want in life and what I want to do, I just don't know how to do any of it, getting from point A to point B. . If you can give us more specifics of what you want in life, as well as what you want to do, as well as the general location of your residence people might be able to steer you...

Yes I agree with both posts. AsPartOfMe I can see how you would have found it to be unmanly but I am glad that changed for you. If we know ourselves better we process experiences better and live longer. Thanks for your input.

Executive Functioning deficits in Autism does not get talked about nearly as much social "deficits" because social abilities is the priority for the nueromajority world so when they write about us that is what they discuss. And after years of being told how "wrong" we are socially we prioritize that...

I've been monitoring the news, and as far as I can tell, yes, a few NTs are blaming Newtown on Asperger's; but even more are maintaining that Asperger's doesn't have anything to do with it, and quoting statistics that show that people with AS have crime rates similar to the general public. Yes, the...

It occurs to me that some diagnosticians go around bragging about their expertise and how many Aspies they have diagnosed. I have never seen that. I have seen a psychologist who was on the DSM brag about "undiagnosing" 90% of his clients and never diagnosing anybody who has a secretary. http://www....

I think it is overdone. The worst part of it is trying to wake up when it is dark and going to the bus or train tired and cold at dawn. Daylight Savings should not be if effect when it causes good chunk of the morning to be dark and the light in the evening to be useless because it is cold out. I wo...

Lack of motivation for some things and hyperfocus for others is related to executive function deficits common with people with Aspergers. That means we only have a certain amount of mental energy. Christine Miserandino came up with a way of explaining this. While not about aspergers per say a lot of...
