I was never very good at pulling off being "normal" so I don't even try any more. I do try to treat people well and help them out if I can. The general result of this is pretty much being an outsider anywhere I go which can get lonely. Apart from a few positive experiences like this one now, I've fo...

W00t! We had coffee today and talked for about 2 hours. We got along very well and it turns out that we share many of the same interests. We are both into theater and philosophy and we both love talking about it. The issue of depression did come up in the conversation and it turns out that she has a...

Thanks, ooh_choc! I have noticed that I tend to hide my emotions most of the time as a defensive thing. I think it kinda creeps out the people around me when I'm always going around with a blank face. In highschool, people would use any apparent emotions as ammunition against people like me so I lea...

First a little background info: Though my demeanor is typically friendly, inside I am very cold and calculating. I have trouble reciprocating feelings (or communicating about them at all) as a result of many years of isolation. I've had various crushes on girls in the time I've been in college thoug...

I distrust most people from the moment I meet them. In my experience, there are a lot of people who are either sadists or manipulators or both. In general, I do not trust that people have good intentions.

I was coincidentally sitting next to a very attractive distant female acquaintance at a play at my school. I looked over at her program because the show requires the audience to call out the number of the 2 minute play we want to see next. She glanced up and I guess she thought I was leaning over st...

My BIOS does support RAID 1 or 0 and the Windows XP pro installer detects it just fine. It's annoyances like these that make Linux so irritating for people who are somewhat interested in switching.

Well, I wanted to have a RAID 0 array as my system disk in Ubuntu. Not going to happen without computer science degree. :x

In everything I read you have to install linux in order to set up the raid array but I want to install linux on the raid array. Wait, does not compute. :?

I'm considering setting up a dual boot XP-pro / Ubuntu on my desktop. My main concern is software. I use ProTools MPowered, Soundforge, Photoshop, Corel Painter, pretty often. I started using GIMP before Photoshop but for all its benefits, it just isn't quite there yet. I have serious doubts that Pr...

I'm in a huge hole right now with my school work and I have no idea how I'm going to catch up by the end of the semester. As a result I'm having a ton of anxiety attacks making it even more difficult to catch up. On top of that, I have the risk of loosing all my scholarships.

VISTA, as I understand it, is more of a management type job where you are placed with an organization to help increase their efficiency, capacity, etc. You help them set up systems and such. It is more of an educated position. Regular Americorps is for pretty much anyone as far as I know. When I sta...
