today I went for a follow up with my dr who understands ASD. I had a new nurse who I had never met, and I did not have a panic attack or obsess over the change, which is something that had happened in the past. So I was happy with myself for being able to observe my feelings about the new nurse wit...

I totally agree that just because a psychical disability is more readily apparent does not make it "better" . Some random person last year I did not even see hit me in the back of the head knocked me unconscious, I fell down and broke my arm. After using my arm for 50+ years not to have it together ...

I prefer a classroom to mingling, like to watch sports alone and have sarcasm be not understood. Print out what you wrote here and what you will write i the next post and show it to the doctor. People get anxious at the doctors office so they do not fully explain themselves. I do think you expressed...

Similar concept to being resident aliens on the Wrong Planet. That is how years of getting hurt for the way you are makes you feel. But of course earth is your planet and you are not a second class citizen. You are a citizen whose rights are ignored and disrespected and you are forced into too many ...

I find shoelaces come untied all the time and that was not true when I was young. I think shoelaces are just not made as well as thay used to be. Other people agree with me about this.

Yes I do have them although I suspect it's low I do not know where mine lies on that particular spectrum because I have not researched the subject so I can't answer for you.

I do not think it is a unusual or particularly a trait for people on the spectrum although people on the spectrum have it a lot more intensely. Most people are ok with the phone ringing and dogs barking. I jump for a loud phone and really really really hate dog barking. If someone clanks or drops di...

Even before I was diagnosed and knew about Aspergers every time they described the killer as nice guy, a little off, a loner, quiet etc I wondered if people would wonder about me because I fit the description.

I think questioning if one is fake can be real, can be a stage of development, can also be a reaction to looking to solve a problem and hearing in response that you have this ASD label. Not a direct response, which most of us want when we are upset. And then there is the fact that some people will ...

When does the real me end and the fake me begins? That is the question. It sounds like you are grappling with some heavy stuff at the moment. I would say that forget about what is, 'fake', concentrate on what is real. The way you behave isn't necessarily real. The clothes you wear, the body you inh...

People actually hate on the Kinks? IMHO that is a true mental disorder.

I agree, think people can learn. But doing things to fit in is going to be more work than it is for NTs. And the outcome depends on not trying too hard, both because it is exhausting, and because it gives NTs the idea that that's your goal and you really care about fitting in. And some will be fine...

Hi, I can't say that I have ever noticed that people on the AS are hated by NT's. My observations however do indicate that many NT's fear us. They are afraid of what they don't understand. Perhaps; just as we struggle with the NT world, so NT's struggle with the AS world. The difference being that ...
