I don't think you should punish your son. His problems are beyond just not wanting to go to school. While online school is a good idea to get an education, there is still the problem of severe anxiety. Even with online school, I think your son, you, the school, and therapists still need to work on r...

Besides attributing success to luck, there is also a tendency on wp to blame everything that goes wrong in one's life on autism. All bad things are caused by autism, never by oneself. Lack of progress is due entirely to autism, never to oneself. I believe that autism can and sometimes does make sign...

Do you need to explain yourself to this person?
Perhaps it is better to not explain, if that doesn't interfere with getting the help you need.

I don't think there is a specific autistic burnout thing.
It is just general burnout, which can happen to anyone who works too hard for too long while neglecting rest, relaxation, one's own individual needs.

I was thinking more of those who come here to offer encouragement and support "yeah you think you're doing well now, you'll get f****d like the rest of us later on", and also those who are genuinely glad to see people doing well. I am genuinely glad to see people doing well, but I believe...

Another phenomenon that I have noticed on WP is that when people share their achievements or somehow convey that they have done well in life or are doing well, they are sometimes dismissed as so high-functioning or their autism is so mild, and that is why they got where they are. I suggest that it i...

I think rejection of children with severe deficits is natural to humans who have been doing it for a very long time. Previously, parents could kill the children after birth, and that would have been ok at many times in many societies. With modern technology, they can decide to kill the children befo...

If he is very resistant on planners/apps, I would give up on that. These don't work for some people. I never use them and find them a waste of time. To me, the main problem from your description seems to be your son not prioritizing responsible things like homework and chores, or not having self-con...

If you do something involving a bunch of steps, it is not a special ability to predict that something will go wrong or not exactly as you imagined it.

On wp, it is considered ok to invalidate people by calling them superspergers and attributing their successes to luck. When telling one's own experiences of achieving something involving having a positive attitude to begin with, they be accused of spewing mindless slogans of the American dream. If s...

To me, your son seems more aggressive than normal, which seems the biggest problem or is going to the biggest problem as he interacts more and more with other children in coming years. I didn't get much asperger from your description, mostly the aggression stuck out in a socially-oriented, non-asper...

My advice is to not focus too much on autism label and don't make his childhood all about autism. Give him help within reason, but let him grow up happy and free. Push him to go out of his comfort zone often, e.g. talk to people, do things for himself. Let him make mistakes. Making mistakes and havi...
