^^^^ For more background, check out sociobiology, and the distinct reproductive strategies of males and females. Humans have a male-female relationship that produces 10% of children being misinformed about who their fathers are, overall. This is low enough to keep men involved in parenting, but high...

it would be nice if there were masculine nice men. i'm not so sure there are any here. the ones people notice in any case, are just macho. I certainly consider myself one. If I thought people were interested here, I'd describe masculinity, as distinct from wealth, which has been the actual focus of...

I dreaded going to work under fluorescents, but after two weeks in a sign shop, they felt fine, so I grabbed a ladder to have a look at the labels. Because the business required colour-matching, they were high-quality full-spectrum tubes. Getting some of almost every wavelength, with a reasonable b...

Who are the autistic adults? By "adult" I mean the ones who grew up with autism/aspergers before there was any diagnosis or help for the condition. Are they married? Do they have succesful careers? I only ask because I don't think I really know hardly any of my parents generation. My uncl...

I say go greta, do your thing. <snip> IDk if people realize how much she is probably giving up to do this. You think she can just have a normal social life with friends after all this world-wide recognition? I mean she's just a teenager, she is sacrificing so much to do her thing...she will never h...

I am, quite frankly, very surprised that at WP, with all the focus and brain power we have here, people think that "Anthropogenic Climate Change" is actually a catastrophic crisis. I highly suggest that those of you whom are scientifically minded start looking at the IPCC's actual reports...

^^Tell your mother that a shared studio must be kept tidy, but a single artist works faster by remembering where each item was used last and left handy for continued work. I knew a sign writer who would just dip his brushes in motor oil and leave them out overnight, giving them a quick swish in the ...

I don't understand that at all Some people just can't see the dirt. Another story comes from my grandparents, who had a small dog. Right after the dog died, grandmother discovered that she had to vacuum around grandfather's chair after every meal, as his muscle control had deteriorated, much to the...

There was a woman who had a cleaning lady for decades, until she retired and could clean her own house. Years later, she ran across the woman at the grocers, and was surprised that she had not yet retired too. "However do you do it? she asked. "I just keep a customer if their eyes are wors...

Neither the other Beatles, nor the fans, seemed to think his appearance was worth worrying about. Ringo didn't even have a talent to match the others - he just seemed to have wandered in, and not been shy about his looks. Since he didn't worry about them, it was easier for everyone else to take them...

Entertainers are pretty good-looking, as a group. This did not discourage Ringo Starr, Stephen Fry, or Mick Jagger. A rough looking guy looks more ready to protect the family, since he would not be risking his looks, and may have already been practising combat.

<snip> In 2017, I actually tried making my own Facebook group meetup. The meetup.com fee was $15 per month for an official group, and I could not afford that, so I made a Facebook meetup. I invited people from a foreign language meetup. Eventually turnout became so bad that it dwindled to about 2-3...
