The way to do it.....is to do it in such a way where the child is having fun, rather than forcing the child to go beyond their "comfort zone." This is something which could be rather difficult to pull off. But it certainly works if done correctly and in sort of a "gently maternal"...

There's a famous slum near Bratislava, Slovakia, which was originally an set of "apartment blocks."

The "apartment blocks" still stand, but are disheveled. But a slum was built around those "apartment blocks."

Biden is a “alpha.”

He had some of the “jerk” characteristics when he was younger, it seems to me. And he married a pretty doctor.

I don’t believe in this crap…but Biden fills the “alpha” bill according to those who believe in that crap.

Obama is a pure “alpha.”

There was an attempt to make the lives of slum dwellers easier. That was the original idea behind the building of "projects."

Unfortunately, it mostly didn't turn out that way.

Nice weather always helps......

When the weather is nice, it seems like it's "nicer" in places which don't get too much nice weather.

There happen to be plenty of autistic people who are also intellectually impaired. It used to be said, before the Spectrum idea took hold, that at least half of all autistic people never learn to speak. Fragile X is a prime example of a disorder which has a high frequency of both autism and intellec...

They call those buildings "the projects" because they were part of a "project," wherein they bulldozed and otherwise razed a previous slum, and built those buildings as a replacement.

Cabrini Green was a notorious "project" in Chicago. It was razed maybe 10-15 years ago. I've lived in "projects." Some are good, some are bad. I stayed in a couple of good ones. One even had a courtyard with abundant trees in it. But, yes, there are really bad "projects"...

There is luck involved, sometimes.

Most of the time, though, being a "winner" involves working hard and persistently.

The idea of "housing projects" was laudable-----but it certainly didn't work out too well in most instances. Their original purpose was to provide housing for people after "slum clearance." Most of the people served by "projects" in the early days were of the working cl...

When I ride the subway at night, at least 1/3 of the passengers are office cleaners who work nights.

I'm one of the relatively few "office workers" who work nights.

Some people in rural Appalachia ARE worse off than many people in urban "projects." This is because they are isolated from urban centers. In order to go to a supermarket, say, they have to have a car. Frankly, I've met people in "projects" who do not reflect the stereotypes of &q...

Yep. I agree with you seeking decent people to hang out with.

Ideally, people who don't take recreational drugs and don't drink to excess.

You folks have been sort of lucky with the hurricanes lately; they've gone east of you.
