I am pro-marijuana but don't live in a state where it is legal for any use. I would rather take marijuana than any of the psych or pain meds I have to take now, and honestly it works better for my anxiety and pain than any of the meds I take now. There are loads of legal drugs that are more dangerou...

My partner took 11 years to finish her undergraduate degree. She changed majors multiple times, and took extended periods off from school. But if you keep at it, you will finish. I think it takes a lot more willpower and determination to finish in 11 years than to do it in 4 straight. With some coll...

My partner taught high school history before she had a nervous breakdown. There is a surprising lot of administration involved in teaching public school: creating lesson plans, coordinating "standards" with your lesson plan, dealing with troublesome students, and dealing with unsupportive principals...

Why does everyone seem to be so obsessed with self hatred, perfection/imperfection, worthy/worthless etc and is this as prolific in the autism community as it is in the NT one?

As opposed to: what?

What would you have folks think about?

Special interests, of course!

There are plenty of people with all kinds of issues who do weird stuff in public. If you see one of these people and automatically think, oh that autistic is giving us a bad name, then maybe you have a little autistic-self-hatred going on. There are NT guys with their butts hanging out of their pant...

It is your duty to keep your child away from his nephews until such time as they are not violent. Their parents should be intervening to deal with whatever reason they are aggressive and violent. It is not your child's responsibility to teach them any lessons. Consider the nephews like 2 large aggre...

My partner tried Abilify for something, depression I think, and it gave her tics. Those can become permanent, like the commercials say. I am very skeptical of Abilify because of her experience, but that is just one person's experience. As someone else said, you need to first come up with a system so...

I read the first two pages before I realized I was reading stuff from 2010. Someone early on mentioned William Freund and that maybe this should be in a Member's Only thread (oh God I hope it was this thread I was reading that said that) and I had to look up William Freund. Once I determined who tha...

From Wikipedia : "The cross was knocked crooked in the 17th century when the crown was damaged, possibly by the top of the iron chest housing the insignia being hastily closed without the crown having been placed in it properly. The cross has since been left in this slanted position, and is always d...

My local psych hospital does not have separate wards for men and women. They do not have private rooms, either, or co-ed rooms.

I'm glad everything was okay. My mother-in-law would put a pot of water on to boil, then go sit sown on the sofa and fall asleep. She burnt up a few pots, and a few times I caught them in time. I am sooo glad she doesn't live with us anymore.

Oh having done it, I can tell you. You get there really early before everybody else gets there, and get filthy stinking drunk. Then you aren't anxious and don't know you're awkward. Used to go all the time with my best friend. Would not have gone by myself, though. Never met anyone but that was not ...

I draw, primarily pen and ink or graphite pencil, though now I am getting into color with markers and colored pens. My inspiration usually comes when I see something and wonder if I can make that come across on paper. I love to challenge myself. If I'm not doing something that stretches my skill, I ...
