Better then not to escalate things, maybe just tell her in a friendly way that you and other neighbours are trying to find the cat a home to prevent her from calling the authorities to have it removed

Good luck, I love cats too :)

I would adopt the cat but this might not be an option for you. Maybe you know someone else who would, or talk about it with the vet or a shelter/organization to see if they could find it a home? Don't start a "note war", it will get ugly. Try to get the cat fixed - if she asks again that you stop ca...

HR exists to protect the company and management. To go to HR with a complaint about a manager, no matter how legitimate, is almost certain suicide. :x True in most cases unfortunately. I avoid the HR like the plague - in all the companies I've worked it was the most incompetent, problem-creating de...

Is murder determined by intent or premeditation? If the second is correct wouldn't "premeditated murder" be a pleonasm?

Could someone more familiar with the British laws shed some light?

Ridiculous and certainly contradicted by facts, as plenty of ugly men are married/in relationships and mind you, not so many of them are rich. Danny Devito apparently was blessed with good social skills to make up for his ugliness. Exactly, and I imagine he worked on making himself more attractive t...

She is also a product of the culture. She knew the risk she was taking. My husband, long ago, told me that if I were ever raped, he would treat it as adultery. He said that knowingly putting yourself in a situation where something like that can happen is, basically, the same as consenting to or eve...

Tyri0n , you made a very interesting observation - the worst comments about men I've seen here, were made by man/boys and usually go along the lines "we are all humans (or animals, or autistic) and every man out there is exactly like me (an idiot?) and if you deny it, you're lying" - it's so ridicu...

I never liked pop but I don't see why you'd basically think there's something "wrong" with you for liking it. People react differently to music and also look for different things in art in general - some are more focused on voice or rhythm/beat, instrumental virtuosity etc, some just get that "feeli...

Mostly ignorance, stupidity and insecurities from what I've seen... I've worked with many Eastern Europeans and some Russians along the years, generally found them excellent professionals and interesting people, their different perspective often leading to out of the box ideas and solutions. I still...

For twenty years, or so, I have been working on thinking before I speak , for just the same reasons. My wife has the right and obligation to tell me when I cross certain lines. In time, I'm learning to model the better ways of communicating. I pastor a congregation...I have learned enough to keep o...

"Spanking" did nothing but contribute to my anxiety issues. Hitting is hitting. As far as I'm concerned, a smack across the bum is equal to a slap across the face. The extent to which people will rationalize hitting their kids always amazes me. You hit the nail on the head. Hitting is still hitting...

social darwinism has long been deeply entrenched in american culture. Yes, and in this type of society adults know such tactics will make "successful" people, hence the enabling. As far as they're concerned the "weak" might as well perish, it's just not PC to say it out loud these days. Never ignor...

I think it's fairly common and there are probably some lifestyle changes that any of us would refuse to make.

Nothing wrong with it as long as they don't go around whining about being single. But TBH most of the ones you mention do sound like excuses to me
