To me, they're like any other label...good for expressing a bigger concept/idea/whatever in a quick manner. It's not precise, but it's an okay starting point or thing to mention for quick reference. I have no issues with them as people have a general understanding of functioning levels and if they ...

- Date someone with the same first name? I don't think there's any men with my name but if there was, yeah I don't think I would mind. - Date someone who's unrelated but has the same last name? Yes, because if you get married you wouldn't have to change your last name. - Date someone who's last nam...

Yes it can work. Any marriage can work, it just depends on the people. Some NT/NT don't work. In fact a lot of NT/NT marriages don't work.

When someone says "I hate my child's autism" I hate when people respond with "but autism is what makes up your child so that means you hate your child." No, they don't mean that at all. They just mean they wish their child wasn't challenging and was better at making friends to su...

Well the way I see it autism isn't about two extremes, but most people on the autism spectrum can feel they lean more towards the high-functioning side or the low-functioning side, or just hover somewhere in the middle with both high and low-functioning tendencies but in different areas of their liv...

That's where autism sucks. I'll never get a well-paying job, because I don't do well at first impressions (ie, interviews) and I find attention and organisation and prioritising hard because of ADHD. I'm OK with people as long as it's not the general public. I go all social anxiety mode around stran...

I'm sorry you're feeling this way. A lot of autistic people are in the same boat. It's not your fault you're jobless or friendless. Stick around here, we'll all understand and support you.

Usually when people are having food fights I always manage to be hit with something. I remember one time at school these stupid girls were throwing food at each other in the cafeteria, and I was on the next table chatting with some friends, when something hit me in the back of the head and when I to...

I relate very strongly to Greg in Diary Of A Wimpy Kid , and also Fregley. I relate to Roland in Grange Hill (1982-1988). I don't relate to Joe in The A Word at all, but I relate a bit to the mother when here. I relate to Simon in Inbetweeners (yes, I'm aware I have already discussed Joe Thomas here...

Cheers people. It helps so, so much when people understand. Maybe I am being selfish but I'm not usually selfish and when it comes to sensory issues and stress and having to constantly live with earplugs or headphones in at home it kind of makes us be selfish because we also need to look after our m...

I think some people make up their own weather forecasts because they think that just because the UK had a long, freezing cold winter back in 2010 it means we're going to be getting those kinds of winters every year...even though we've barely had much snow since. Same with the summer. People think th...

Welcome to my world. I trigger people here all the time, I've only got to say the word "the" and it offends someone. Makes me want to shoot myself in the head.

Yes, that Joe. He's autistic. If you see him in real life as he really is, he's totally autistic and open about it. I don't watch Taskmaster but apparently how he is on that show is his real self. He also can't stand looking people in the eye when he's interviewed, he talks about that as well. Wow,...

I won't believe in afterlife until I actually see a ghost myself for real. I want to see a ghost but the best places to see ghosts are places you aren't allowed to go, like abandoned buildings. Yes, you're more likely to encounter paranormal activity in abandoned buildings than graveyards. In gravey...
