Oberlin?

Just tell them that you're destined to save the world someday, and you'll give them a building if they'll let you study there now.

Miss P: I too use the Internet and hope nothing explodes. My kid knows more about computers than I do, but ya know what? I majored in films, spent my working life in the industry, and write for a living now. So go to your liberal arts college, major in English or Poetry, or Social Science, or politi...

Recently my parents decided to send me to this specialist residential college called 'Farleigh' in Somerset (United Kingdom) and I hate it there. I have been there ever since 10th February and my life is getting worse because of it. My parents, however, cannot see how unhappy I am. Their true feeli...

WOW. That was really crappy of her. That being said, I love GA. I know that isn't helpful though :P How much more school do you have?? Because it sounds like your mother is unstable which means you'll be out on your own at 18 anyway, and CA is not the sunshiney gold-paved street the rest of the wor...

At one time or another, everyone feels like everyone else is looking at them. Doubt me? Look at the cosmetic industry, and what that's geared to, and how they sell. As someone I know once said, people have enough trouble recognizing me. I don't want to make it any harder with make-up. Be that as it ...

A few weeks ago, my mom more or less kicked me out because I went to go visit my dad. Our relationship was going great before it, and she just got really mad this time. Like the social worker asked, and basically she said she didn't like how she was the one stuck with raising us, yet whenever a bre...

Write on the board, 1000 times, Aspies are not dangerous! Most of them know what they're doing. Not understanding is not usually not understanding right from wrong. It's trying to figure out the difference between someone saying "If you steal my boyfriend, I'll kill you," and jumping out from behind...

i'm not sure whether this is a manifestation of A/S or the result of experiences common to those affected by it, but ever since i was very young - maybe five or six - i've written and latterly mused about this fictional character of my own creation, named Nadine. i seem to remember a dream in which...

I want so badly to being able to understand my brain. Since first hearing about AS three years ago, I've become more and more sure that I have it. There are certain AS traits that don't apply to me though, for instance I do sometimes feel emotional when watching films (though it doesn't tend to hap...

If, in any situation, you have to restrain a child, especially in a special ed setting, you have failed as a teacher. There are other alternatives. Restraints are always dangerous to the child, and to the staff who do it. There is no training that can overcome emotion in this situation. If you work ...

I have only one question. What have some of these researchers been smoking? Gimmie some. As long as it doesn't make you autistic. I am, and I'd be afraid that smoking something like these folks seem to be ingesting might make me and NT.

Horrors.

The trouble with the "cure" community is that they're talking eugenics. The Nazi's tried that. They killed more than 6 million people trying to rid Europe of "impure" races. Here they are talking (though they seem to be trying not to talk that way) about inflicting something on unborn children. As O...

As hard as it is to maintain a site like that, Alex and the mods should feel proud, and from one very small part of this site to all the rest of you, congratulations.

If you're that close to moving out, wait and do so. But plan carefully and be sure you've got a job first. That way you won't have to move back in.

Life is rough. Money helps a lot.

luck.
