Most Aspies eventually find ways to "cope" with it or to "fake" it. But they don't often learn to "feel normal". I benefitted enormously from psychotherapy. I learned to look people in the eye, to take turns and to feel loved. I conquered my depression and I'm no longer angry all the time. And I wor...

I was largely blind to love for the first forty years of my life. I had friends but I couldn't feel their love. It's a special kind of loneliness that company can't cure. Then I got a really good psychotherapist. I was amazed when I realised how many people loved me. I found love in unexpected place...

That's a sign of Aspergers? That certainly goes against the myth that Aspies are inarticulate and lack imagination.

My psychothyerapist accepts me as I am, although she doesn't like me to think of myself as Aspergic. She says everyone is different and she doesn't want me "hiding behind a label".

Wow, that's really bad. You should definitely find another group. A skilled leader is not going to allow ganging up, whether the person is aspie or not.

I'm a good man, a loving husband, a proud father, a hard worker, a loyal friend.
I pay my taxes and obey the law. I'm not violent, I try not to hurt people and I don't tell lies.

Why can't people accept me?

You know that I have Asperger’s Syndrome. Yet you run this group in a way that makes it very difficult for an Aspergic to participate. * You often interrupt me and you allow other members to interrupt me. * You often allow the focus to wander all over the group and I can never concentrate on one thi...

Children's faces tell the truth, and so does mine. Maybe that's why I look young!

I started seeing a new doctor yesterday who put me on a low dose of Fluoxetine (Prozac) for mild depression, anxiety, and obsessive behaviors. Has anyone else ever had any experience with fluoxetine for these issues? Did it work? Any side effects that you had? I took Prozac for many years (not sure...

Can group therapy ever be a good thing for AS? Particularly if you have co-morbid depression and anxiety issues? And, if so, under what circumstances? I'm a fairly high functioning Aspie, and I've done group therapy with NTs. I learned some useful stuff, like looking people in the eye and taking tu...
