OCD and Autistic obsession are two completely different things. I've been told they're distinguished by OCD being when you feel forced to do something non-functional almost against your will that causes you nothing but frustration and pain, while Autistic obsession is something you rather get pleasu...

Absolutely, I noticed it very early with my posting here. I don't personally find it as obvious in real life situations on my part though, but it very well might be to others. The posting I do here I don't really expect anyone to respond directly to me so that's no big deal (and I rarely find a suff...

It varies a lot, everything from more or less lifetime to weekly obsessions.

Most important thing is that it's sufficiently interesting and absorbing to occupy me in the present.

^ Story of my life. All Nts are so cautious, like screening and looking me in the face for "signs" or whatever and when unable to return these things even when I notice it (although have no idea exactly what), that I probably should send out some of their vodoo magic my mind just blanks and I'm just...

Heh, that's ok I'm not entirely sure either but as you saw in my post I am fully aware of what I identified as some of the main reasons that I may in some sense be living in the present, but I probably described it a bit awkwardly. Since I was mainly thinking about some underlying reasons when I wro...

Yeah I also get it in my neck/head. Mostly happens when I lie in bed when trying to sleep, although varies how much. I think it happens as a result of calming down abruptly relative to how much stress or sensory input I've been exposed to, though sometimes it can happen in other situations if just e...

I live in my own world, but I also live very much in the present. My mom has even said that I seem to live more in the present than my very extroverted NT sister, because she always thinks about the future, making plans for things, being concerned about future events and so on. I on the other hand h...

Yeah, it's annoying. During the summer where I live my landlord even does the stupidest thing of erecting a giant trampoline right outside my window that attracts screaming little kids from all over the neighbourhood. When this happens my headset becomes life support. Luckily it's generally a quiet ...

How does one choose to be Naive? And have you ever thought that your cynicism is just misplaced arrogance driven by your own naivety? I have. When approaching other people, I have to make a choice of either deciding to trust them enough and risk coming across as very naive, or else I have to put up...

Yes, absolutely, for me it's exactly like that. I have only a very limited ability to balance myself like NTs do so naturally.

Not sure if I have actually bloomed yet in the social/emotional sense, feel more like 1/2 my age in that regard. Had the closest to a crush I've ever had with someone this year, but although we met regularly at work and got along better than anyone I've ever been in contact with before I had no idea...

The researchers found that autistic children tended to have very low 2D:4D ratios (see illustration). Interestingly, children with Asperger's syndrome had ratios that fell between those of autistics and unaffected children. "It fits exceptionally well with the theory," says Manning. So we can finge...
