There is no paradox here. Only a complete misunderstanding of math by some that makes them think there is a paradox. There is no reason to get hung up on adding shorter and shorter intervals, each 1/2 of the previous interval. It is simple to show that the sum of 1/2 + 1/4 + 1/8 + 1/16 + ... = 1. Le...

Whenever I've been on antibiotics, the doctor has usually told me to eat Yoghurt or cultured milk I was on Doxycycline a few months ago for a sinus infection. My biggest issue is that after ten days I started gaining weight quickly. It turns out that Doxycycline is sometimes prescribed to people to...

I just hate going through the years without things ever getting better. I just continue to suffer and any hope I get only ends up as false hope. Is there any reason that makes it impossible that things will get better? Think about it this way -- no matter how bad it might be for you at the moment, ...

I didn't realize at first that I could pick five different things. And it's a little weird to have found myself picking five different things. Also, I never realized there was a difference between a prep and a preppy, neither of which applied to me by any stretch of the imagination. You can apparen...

My group, if you can call it that, was more of the local ag group. Most of that was during school hours. Also my local church group. Once school was out, I went home and worked on the farm, usually at least until dark. Either working in the shop; feeding the pigs, cattle, and horses; driving tractor...

I see religion as completely unnecessary because you don't need to have a belief in some higher power to have good ethical values. Even believing in an afterlife is meaningless. If there is an afterlife, then you will end up where you deserve to if you live your life the way you see fit, whether yo...

It's pretty much all tribal.

More and more, those who are seen as being of a different tribe are attacked and vilified time and time again. We see it a lot between the hard left and the hard right, both of which are nuts.

One time at a Thanksgiving Day parade in the early 1990s, he was the parade marshal. I rode over on a bicycle to watch it.
When I saw him go by at the head of the parade, my only thought was, "He's still around!"

I tend to be very obsessive about my comfort zone. When I'm leaving, even if only traveling to a nearby city for a day, I'm very anxious until I return. Consequently, there have been years when I never got more than 35 miles from home going to a nearby town. Even 35 miles was further than I liked. A...

By the way, when Anders Breivik killed all those people in Norway on July 11, 2011, I posted in another place that the maximum sentence was 21 years in Norway. I was already familiar with that from regularly reading the English language portion of a Norwegian news website. There was many objections ...
