It was 1969 everything was very controlled and societal trust was very high and information was carefully managed. My theory on this is they could fool enough people and the rocket could still just take off and fly off somewhere, but certainly not to the Moon, but enough to fool the people at Cape Canaveral. The Autism community have been pretty marginalized over the puzzle piece symbol for nearly 2 decades.
