Closed. I don't want to give my family added reason to be concerned about me, they worry enough. I am not embarrassed by it at all, I just don't want it to be a factor in the way people treat me (specifically, I don't want them to teat me kinder or special, I couldn't care less if they were meaner t...

I can definitely relate...just going through the motions of day to day life. My family is concerned enough with my feeble attempts, I don't want them to know what I am really like.

This sounds a lot like my perspective. I have no reason to not be honest about any issues I may have...I am there seeking their help. But I'm going to take it in medium steps and let the psychiatrist demonstrate himself or herself as a reasonable individual. And crucially, I'm going to see how I fe...

Also, please note that the best outcomes for depressive patients result from a combination of drug and talk therapy - not only does the biochemistry need to be rebalanced, but some of the habits of thought ingrained over years of being depressed need to be redirected. I am not opposed to talk thera...

I have, I assume, mild OCD. I consider it mild because I can usually avoid the triggers. I have compulsive checking OCD and used to spend a great deal of my day fighting it. Now that I avoid the triggers (heat sources mainly, I was always convinced I would do something that would start a fire) my sy...

I have met with a psychologist (to verify my self diagnosed AS), but not a psychiatrist. The psychologist noted that she felt I had dysthymia (chronic depression). I had never considered that because, as I look back now, I can't think of a time when I didn't feel as I do. I've been thinking about it...

You are not the only one. I am 28 and have never been close to having a relationship. The idea of dating has never appealed to me. Don't get me wrong, I would love nothing more than to be in a loving, committed relationship, but I am uninterested in the trial and error world of dating. I want simply...

I was diagnosed with dysthymia last year, at the same time I was professionally diagnosed with AS. As with you, now that I look back, I can't think of when the dysthymia began, it seems to have been a constant in my life. I have occasional bouts of clinical depression, where I get out of bed just lo...

There are very few things I honestly care about.... Eating feels good, sleeping feels good when I am tired. I do not like taking showers or brushing my teeth, but I do it regularly because society expects it. I don't like wearing clothing unless it is very cold and demanded by the weather. I feel l...

My parents only had stick shift cars, so if I wanted to drive I had no choice but to learn. I remember absolutely hating it and my parents at the time. My mom tried to teach me but would end up clenched into a ball by the end of the lesson so my dad took over...he was much more laid back. His teachi...

There is one episode in The Next Generation (plot is about an alien soldier who was programmed to be the best possible fighter) where the soldier is in the Enterprise's brig and he hits a button and it pulls away to reveal a sink. I just assume the toilet works the same way. I base this assumption o...

Just come back from having my hair done, and forgot what an exhaustive experience it is. I felt under so much pressure to come up with small talk and after a while felt like the girl must be thinking I'm such a boring pathetic person and wishing she had a more lively client to deal with. Also hate ...

As others have said, I can get lost in my own hometown. Thankfully, I always have the gps on my phone! However, my gps didn't save me the embarrassment that arose during my last roadtrip. I was all prepared for the navigation of my daylong drive, but got stuck at the very beginning when I didn...

I rarely drink...mainly because the taste of alcohol is just not appealing to me. If I do drink, it is the occasional wine cooler or hard lemonade. I may have one or so drinks a year. I have never been drunk or even slightly buzzed...I don't like the idea of the potential loss of control or loss inh...
