I am not sure I understand "executive function". However, if you are trying to adopt new habits, you might try rewarding yourself (candy, positive feeling, etc.) when you remember to do the new action you wish to become a habit. Aspergers often results in running on manual control rather t...

I would think that there should be a place for reflective thinking in the upper echelons of large organizations. For example in a discussion of the best ways to kill Jews in a meeting in Germany in the 1930s, it might have been better if someone asked, "Should we be doing this". I understa...

Most adult people with Aspergers find a way to achieve an equilibrium. However, when events insert an major upheaval, the world can come crashing in. Your desire for a remote hut is reflective of the need to re-balance. This does not necessarily mean a self-imposed exile. The death of a parent can c...

"quirky" to whom?

The observations of others may not be accurate or complete. Consider how helpful it would be to tell someone, "You don't look like you have cancer".

Many Aspies have an aversion to a light touch due to tactile sensitivity. Your feeling of lack may come from an association of touch with emotional closeness. As a substitute a cat may not be as good a choice as a dog. You might consider taking a Judo class where there will be physical contact and m...

One common aspect of Aspergers is an intensity of focus (often at the expense of peripheral attention). While not a special interest, it can amplify the intensity of attention given a special interest. Things may become "unhealthy" if we neglect others parts of life or attempt to force our...

There are a number of things you can do to help her. For example, if she has too narrow a focus, you can help reminder her to take a look around her periodically (this is also useful when learning to drive). If she become "stuck" in a familiar or comfortable routine, you can help her break...

Because for a child today their primary ambition is to fit in with the social environment of school more that see themselves as a family member. Being hindered in reflexive social engagement seems to be a high hurdle for the young. As time passes one both acquires better social skills as well as rec...

Since IQ is the deviation from average (100), it would seem like Lake Woebegone where all the children are above average. One might suspect that changes in testing or other criteria are more in play.

I used to work at a place that had us wear a photo ID. All the women wore their badges backwards because they hated how they looked in their picture. I didn't because my pictures always turned out better than I actually looked.

Sometimes people make exaggerated statements as a sort of humorous exchange rather than an accusation. Many of the WWII generation were like that. They would make a "friendly insult" and if it was not well received would ask, "What's the matter, can't you take it?" I found that o...

Aspergers is often less difficult for those who are older. The main reason is that over time and through experimentation one finds what works better for them. As a result one develops improved skills. It would be nice if someone compiled a detailed list of all the things that worked, but until then ...

I do not know to what extent he can participate in assessing his own situation. If he knows that he has difficulty in some situations, is he may be open to trying at some level to accommodate or manage a slight improvement through his own efforts. When my daughter was small I asked her to hold a fiv...

I think there are sleep "cycles". It may be that if you wake as one cycle is ending that you be more refreshed than if it is in the middle of a cycle. You may want to experiment with timing.

Since you are from Israel, I assume your take of God is from a Jewish perspective. There are times in the history of Israel when God cursed people. However, it was usually for a reason. For example the practice of throwing your children into a fire to sacrifice them to Molech as practiced by some in...
