I think that this idea of never allowing an aspie or autie the chance at life is deeply wrong.

I would like to know what a perfect genotype is and if anyone has got one on this earth.

I was actually diagnosed by Maxine. Her office was full of copies of her own books with price tags on them. If any of you were to set foot in my office, first I would ask how on earth you have worked out who I am and secondly I am sure that you would not find any books written by me for sale there....

Let us look at the publication record of other people, I have chosen some at random from a series of UK university psychology departments. If you look at all of them, they tend to show their peer reviewed publications openly. Why then does Maxine have no mention of proper publications on her web sit...

You can go a further step, question how valid Maxine's work is. I would suggest fighting fire with fire, point out that "Cassandra Affective Deprivation Disorder" is not in the DSM and that it is the creation of a person who not clearly proven the existance of it. I say that the burden of proof in s...

Please could anyone who has anything to comment on the work of Maxine Aston and some other the other researchers who claim to understand (or even treat AS or autism) please share it with the rest of us. Please understand that this is not a thread for people to vent any vitriolic abuse aimed at any r...

I hate headaches so a combination of a trampoline and a low celling would be a nightmare for me. I like going for long walks with my wife's dog, I even go out in cold weather. But if it rains I am less motivated to walk the dog. I tend to wear two coats and sometimes a pair of pajama trousers under ...

Well I think that the case of HM is sad, but we did learn a lot about brains from his misfortune. The BBC book "The Mind Machine" by Colin Blakemore does mention HM on page 54. Also in the book "The Man Who Mistook His Wife for a Hat" (Oliver Sacks) a man with no memery, this case was named the "Los...

As a young man I tended to eat the same food day in day out. When I meet my wife my diet started to get a bit more variation. I think that the weight watcher's food books are great, even if you do not have a weight problem becuase things like the complete diet book has lots of easy to cook but fun t...

It is a lot of text, I have started to read it but I have not finsihed digesting it. One thing I thought was odd was that the paper viewed that dyslexia is related to psychosis. While others have mentioned the idea before in the academic literature, it does seem odd as dyslexia is a memery thing whi...

Well it is a fact of life that people since Roman times (and before) have wanted to alter their appearance. What I find odd is that many hair dyes have some quite nasty substances in them, one which I think it nasty is the phenylene diamine which is present in some hair dyes. I think that it reacts ...

The incompetence of students was brought up several times in this thread, and I more or less agree. However, no one made mention of the piss poor TA's that seem to be proliferating (I've run across a few moronic instructors as well, but less so). I never understood why master's students were allowe...

That which we do in this life is not without meaning, while it has been written that "If no one hears a tree fall that it is as if it never happened" but I would reply that this is an unreasonable point of view to have. That which we do is at least seen by ourselves, with few exclusions we are witne...

I think that the problem is that lazy people use wikiepdia as their source of facts, stupid people edit it and add nonsense which can not be distingished from fact by many people, silly university students cite it without reading its own disclaimer and sometimes mean minded people choose to libel ot...

I never guessed that commenting on the political compass test would incite such debate. I think that the left & ring wing model has had its day, the two axis model seems to work better.

This reminds me of a sad truth.

Childhood seems to have died, children are being made to grow up too quickly by people who want t make them little adults. I think that teenaged and younger girls should not be wearing sexually provocative clothing.

Well what can you expect for the fountain of all knowlege which has no editorial control system and no method of choosing what is right other than what the mob choose. I used to think that wikipedia was a great idea, while I think it is an interesting experiment I think that it has some deep flaws. ...
