I don't think it's wise to lay a cartload of criticisms on somebody like that, though it all looks very logical and clear. If you're up for it, you could get a lot out of it, though they need to know that somebody with AS is going to do that kind of thing and recovery is likely to be slow. I doubt t...

Sarcasm isn't all that hard to learn. I think most of the Aspies who don't get it are probably young ones who will suss it out eventually.

There's ample sources to back up how ineffective AA is as a whole and then you read the 12 steps themselves, and you see that the process requires a person submit their will to a god, which reveals a few amusing things about the human psyche and it's exploits. It's not just it's ineffectiveness tha...

Apart from me who's old enough to remember the farting chairs in CJ's office (The Fall & Rise of Reginald Perrin)? I've avoided leather furniture ever since.

I didn't get where I am today without seeing CJ and his farting chairs.

Yes that can be a problem........luckily outside the world of work there aren't many people who you can't get away from pretty easily - exceptions are your parents (until you're old enough to legally escape), your own kids, and possibly spouses to some extent. There are also rules in some social cir...

Suddenly my Hotmail account is getting Topic Reply Notifications again, after a couple of months or so of being broken. First one was datestamped 01 June 2010 13:59:18. I didn't do a thing to make it happen.

Much better now it works again - anybody else got it back?

I don't see why all recovery plans would have exactly 12 steps by nature it's because they've all borrowed the 12 steps of AA, that's why. if you look closely, they're almost identical in each case. Hmmmm........having seen those, I wonder how I managed to quit smoking tobacco without prostrating m...

I used to feel terrible about failing to inform people about the things they couldn't see.......I think it came from a powerful compulsion to inform - e.g. if somebody asks me to explain a particular thing, my gut reaction is to wring out every bit of info I know that could possibly help, and to pre...

It's obviously not something that's only diagnosed in children......I was diagnosed at tthe age of 56. He doesn't seem to know what he's talking about. Find somebody else who makes more sense.

No. They were both dead before I knew I had Aspergers Syndrome. I sometimes used to feel a bit of resentment that they brought me up rather badly in some ways, but I'm satisfied that they were doing their best. Mum had a lot to answer for, but she never saw it like that.

I can't see that you did anything wrong, but maybe if you'd said "it's not your pencil" then it would have been better than just giving a confused look. And sometimes it's useful to ask another person to come and help to resolve a dispute......it can help to keep problems escalating when there's a "...

I have to do a lot of pondering "offline" to keep my compassion flowing in the right directions. I seem to get by these days......particularly with one-on-one, as groups can soon get complicated, e.g. I like to zoom in to one character which tends to snub the others, so I still zoom in but I worry a...

i will look for an elevator if there are 12 steps. 8) what does that mean? does it mean my vision is dim? who cares anyway. dim vision precludes precision but it is not a decision i take. a simple incision in thy source of derision is not a philosopher going to make, of me. No, I believe it to be a...
