I do not miss my childhood and especially teen years. I do miss being in my 20's. I miss a world where your every move and thought was not spied on. I miss a world where if you were different people and society did not try to control you nearly as much. The "Sink" or "Swim" mentality then had it's b... |

It is not just about making a great speech. It is acting all day every day, small talk and BS all day every day, reading other people all day every day, lights all day every day, grubby food every day. It would be a lot better once the person wins an election, but I seriously doubt an person on the ... |

Dr. Tony Attwood. Also with him whatever he seems to say goes smoothly into my brain. When others people talk I have to really concentrate to understand the information they are trying to convey. |

I was not even aware 1. I was not making eye contact 2.That I was supposed to make eye contact until I was about 40. When I first started started to consciously try and do it it was like their was this invisible hand forcing me to look down. It has gotten a lot easier over the years and sometimes it... |

Support groups. There is one here over the winter, but i have trouble convincing myself to take the bus in bad areas at night. Yeah i have to trust my personal GOD. That may sound funny, but at the least it is a great coping skill. Daily walks. Yeah my psych and sister both told me the same thing. ... |

Somewhat less isolated in that I go to several support groups a month. Even though it is fellow aspies I still have to force myself to walk into that room. A lot of money was spent to get that diagnoses so I I would feel guilty if I did not put in effort to get positives out of it. |

Yeah, it's had an impact on me. Once again, there are days when I cannot leave my house. Why?? I'm afraid I might yell, or cry, or otherwise look "wrong" in public, and end up outed. I am developing plans to emigrate to one of several developing-world countries in the event that a Registry of the I... |

Never did drugs. I was pretty much the only one in my school in the early 70'that did not do them because I knew even then 40 years before I heard of Aspergers and obsessive special interests I would become addicted to them. That as much as any autistic trait made me an outsider. I was a casual drin... |

It is great that there is a public face of Aspergers that is not geek, male or dead. She is probably the most well known and well liked public figure to come out. For me a a fellow fifty-something person that has been recently diagnosed, to read about her missed diagnoses, the struggles of not knowi... |
