When I was in primary school (aged around ten) I overcame my inability to look at people by deliberately taking part in staring contests with other kids. The loser was the first one to blink. I invariably won. In secondary school (an all boys school) I was asked why I was staring at them, on several... |

I've no idea, as I can't speak on behalf of autistic people in general, liking stuffed animals etc is probably a indiviual affectation anyway. Judging by the popularity, not so long ago, of beanie babies and Ty bears collecting and owning stuffed animals isn't just restricted to children and autisti... |

Why is our system hiding the word as*hole, but not the word as*holes? :nerdy: For the same reason that it hides fa***t but not fa***ts. Interesting word. To about half of us here, it is a terrible thing to call a homosexual. To the other half, it's a cigarette. English is cool. fa***ts are savoury ... |

"So long, and thanks for all the fish!" was the goodbye note left by the dolphins when they evacuated Earth. |

The thread title is a quote from The Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy, a book by Douglas Adams, which has been televised and also made into a movie. |

Q) Would you consider having children?
A) No, regardless of whether they were autistic or not, whether they were natural or adopted, regardless of whether they were pink, black or green, I don't want any. I like being alone and I'd object to anyone intruding into my life. |

I NEVER liked people "letting me win." That sort of thing makes me FURIOUS. If I suck at something, I suck at something. And I have to live with it. I'm good at some things, and suck at some things. Such is life. Letting someone win is patronising and I absoluetly loath it, it's demeaning... |

I stopped posting there because I was essentially talking to myself. There just wasn't enough input from anyone else to keep me interested, which is a pity because it's a forum format that has real potential. That's why I included a link to it in my signature, hopefully one day there'll be a little ... |

I have no opinion of it at all, as it doesn't impinge in any way on my life and makes no difference to me personally. If the boy was happy about the whole thing (and apparently he was) and the two teams were happy to do it then I don't see any problem with it at all. If the boy felt patronised or an... |

And your point is what? Schizotypal Autism is described in your linked article as being "like autism" but it isn't autism, therefore it does not belong, nor is it placed, on the autistic spectrum. |

They sound loud because public toilets are full of hard surfaces, there is nothing in them to absorb or deaden sounds. The hand dryers don't bother me in the slighest, at least they drown out the noise of people, which I find far more annoying. |
