Unhappiness doesn't last. It is a state of turmoil, and this sort of state will not go on forever. What helps me the most is finding ways to relax, and keep my mind from cycling with these depressing thoughts. Some good advice I heard once was that if you decide you want to kill yourself then you sh... |

I have some of these problems. A lot of it is related to "executive function" I believe. In looking at the way I have lived my life and the way my friends have, it seems that the big difference is I follow my own inspiration, and it can be very fickle and unpredictable. Whereas my friends, picked so... |

I think this is a bit of an oversimplification, but I see what you're getting at. I would'nt consider monotheism as an evolutionary step forward. Well, rather than an "evolutionary step forward" think of it as the refinement of a hypothesis. The idea that there is one god or one cause or tha... |

If reality was a firsthand illusion then you would have to know everything about the world you're in- the only way you couldn't know everything is if you were somehow "god of your own universe" and were intentionally deluding yourself... this is too overly complicated and silly to be logical. I thi... |

Yeah, the problem is that science and religion emerged from the same realm of human culture. What do you mean by this?? I see a fundamental difference between science and religion. What I mean is that the thing that makes us human is this wonderful imagination, or what some would call consciousness... |

I always try to substitute the word fidelity, and think of how a man should be "faithful" to his wife. Faith in the sense of blindly accepting dogma, could more accurately be called ignorance, since one is ignoring evidence to the contrary. It's all semantics I suppose. I have studied Buddhism exten... |

Ok I'll have to refer to my earlier post about the distorted concept of "faith" This word is so abused. MrMark is sort of right, science is faithful to its process of self critical experimentation in a search for truth. In this sense it is very much like religion. Religion should be in the same way,... |

I had two very emotional relationships in college. One was mostly unrequited love, I think she was willing to give it a try, so we sort of dated for a while, but it was mostly just a mess, because I guess I could see that she would never feel what I felt. The other was just the opposite, a girl who ... |

Yeah, the problem is that science and religion emerged from the same realm of human culture. Science however is more self critical, so it has distanced itself from religion through a long series of experiments and observation. Some religions however, such as "creationism" still insist on making scie... |

I do get anxiety on occasion, and I have delveloped a lot of strategies for dealing with it. I have found that exercise helps. There is also some evidence that anxiety could result from certain chemical deficincies in the brain as well. I supplement my diet with protein, and glutamine when working o... |

I have the opposite problem.
I am afraid of getting involved with someone, because I'm afraid I will end up hurting them.
People always assume that I am afraid of getting hurt. |

I've been thinking that maybe a bigbrother bigsister program would be a good idea.
What I need is mostly just interaction.
And I feel like what aspie kids need is just someone who understands what they face.
It could be helpful to everyone I think. |
