I doubt any country that can't grow it's own food will ever take over the world. What about the British Empire? In case you haven't noticed, it isn't around anymore, and didn't really last that long compared to other empires. I guess there's still the commonwealth, but not the same thing. Regardles...

There's more than one type of superpower, isn't there? Maybe China will be the main economic superpower, but the US will be the main military superpower for a long time. If strategy games have taught me anything, it's that being a military superpower is better than being an economic superpower. You...

Since victory brought, in both cases, total occupation, disarmement and a regime decided by the Americans, it is not that surprising.

"The notion that a radical is one who hates his country is naive and usually idiotic. He is, more likely, one who loves his country more than the rest of us, and is thus more disturbed than the rest of us when he sees it debauched. He is not a bad citizen turning to crime; he is a good citizen driv...

but the war was won by the Soviet Union all the same. Say you were playing a multiplayer video game with some friends and were on the last boss. You all agreed to, by some tech, bring the boss down to 1hp and then all hit him at once, to share the glory. But one of your friends is a d*** and breaks...

", especially when American armed forces came to your country's rescue and liberated you or your ancestors from the brutality of some psychopathic dictator. " You know its remarkably coincidental that this 'liberation' you speak of only seems to manifest in countries that produce oil. France, Germa...

Any nation : love it, or become an outcast.

There is no such thing as "choosing" another nation. The other one has to admit you first.

In this case, the point is that they are roughly comparable, for all we know. My point was that brain capacity is not much of an indication. Granted. However, it is often used as a rough sign of evolution rowards modern humans. Well, your "We, humans, are obviously the best the world has borne" att...

What is relatively plausible is that, for example after a major disaster with devastating demographic consequences (say, within the next 100 million years), some groups of humans will lose contact of each other, and maybe even for enough time to become different species. Thence, who knows what will...

I share this view. Human nature is the cause of humanity's own problems and the time is coming for humans to be replaced by a more intelligent species. Replaced by what exactly? There is no more intelligent species on this planet; nothing even close to as smart as we are, really. Neanderthals may p...

The argument that aliens must have built the pyramids, besides its inherent ridiculousness, stinks of racism. It implies that native African people were incapable of building monumental architecture, so any monuments found in Africa must have been built by non-Africans (be they Atlanteans, Phoenici...

Now that there's an equivalent to that right wing nutjob thread, it's a problem all the sudden. I didn't know there was one. I just saw it, actually. I only read threads that have just started. However, the other one seems to have been started as a funny thread. This thread is more of a rant than s...
