Danica, Welcome to Wrong Planet. One key to acceptance is understanding what our issues are and why they happen. The third paragraph tells me you seem to have identified what some of them are and you have started to take action by coming here which is a good start. What you described in the 2nd para...

Diagnoses was something that happened to me this summer just before my 56th birthday. Like Fnord I was born in 1957. In the 60s and mo...

I have been to support groups 4 or 5 times and after the meeting of an group for people over 50 we went out for dinner. It is a wide variety of people with different interests, problems, from the obviously affected to those who can pass as NT. It is after the meeting that I really saw the difference...

Sorry you had to learn a "social skill" the hard way. Most NT's in your situation would reply like you will the next time or say they had a previous engagement they can't get out of.

I hope you do better financially.

That seems unduly harsh. How would you regard someone who claimed to have a life-altering condition but never sought diagnosis? I think erring on the side of 'hypochondria' is the only sane response. That's not to say that some self-diagnosers DON'T have AS -- but again, why not get it official? fl...

I am not a professional so I can not diagnose you. Ask your parents if you were diagnosed as a baby. Positive results on one test may be indicative they you have Aspergers.
