I've had similar problems, I never go anywhere without my MP3 player, I find music motivates me and takes off some of the sting of sensory over load when going out in public. I suggest switching from ear plugs to an MP3 player. Listen to something soothing and instrumental.

It is a potentially dangerous slipper slope but imagine if human beings were able to evolve past that kind of pettiness, now think about new cures and fewer mistreatment and hospitalization of the mentally ill and the mentally challenged. If we could find a way to fix genetic abnormalities that caus...

I feel genetic research is extremely important too. Especially in regards to Autism. Recently scientists have been able to link the genes that cause Autism to the genes that cause Bipolar and Schizophrenia. It's incredibly important to understand what causes Autism and Schizophrenia so that better t...

Yes I had few friends. The students and teachers at my grade school treated me like I was a retard. I was in I.E.P till high school. My parents were always yelling at me to try harder in school. I had to play alone with imaginary friends because other kids thought I was too retarded to play with the...

Congratulations. My NT friends also like me too. As well as my AS GF. I'm liked by people, they just think I'm super weird. Me too, why?! Me three I think it's because some people are attracted to those who are different and intrigued by them, those NT people who are attracted to us tend to be smar...

I hate people who post photo's excessively about they their day to day activities or go on about them on twitter, but it is nice to see photo's of events like weddings and stuff. Having social anxiety means I don't go out much so sometimes I like seeing photo's from events my friends and family go t...

I honesly feel envy towards a lot of other members on this site. I envy some of the frequent posters in PPS because they seem so much smarter than me. I feel like one of the stupidest people here. I used to feel like that everyday of my life in general. I thought I was stupidest most worthless pers...

I was sent to a high school for "special kids" because of my "Dyslexia" I was not educated enough to go to a normal high school. In the end I didn't mind it actually turned out to be a trade school. I got to do a lot of funs things there and I made a lot of great friends. Eventually my grades got so...

Self therapy. I've made my AS and how it affects me one of my new obsessions. I think about it all the time and can't stop, and surprisingly it helps. When I encounter uncomfortable situations I remind myself that not everything is my fault because I have AS. I except the limitations I'm presented w...

Come to think of it Jerry from Boston Legal was pretty awesome. He made me laugh quite a bit. That was a really good black comedy in general. I also loved Shatner and Spader.

So far I've proven to myself that I can not successfully maintain a relationship because of my AS so I'm going to try another Aspie this time and if that doesn't work I'm willing going to be alone forever

After explaining to that doctor my thought process--i used a metaphor to explain how i was always to close to my thoughts. Like it was difficult for me to think sometimes because i was staring a...

I totally do! I even did a lot research myself because I had to. One thing I noticed was that AS and Schizophrenia symptomatically look very similar, a lot of the negative symptoms match up where as the positive symptoms such as delusions and hallucinations don't. Another thing is that Dyslexia it's...
