Sweet, I love AVGN. Too many favorite episodes to list, but Action 52, both Bugs Bunny episodes, Atari Porn, and the CD-I are among that list. I especially like how he called a certain game publisher Laughin' Jokin' Numbnuts. Hmmm, which publisher is that..oh.. Konami, right? :P I recently fo...

Pokemon always struck me as a game that was meant for portables rather than home consoles. Are kids taking their Switches to school these days? Probably. The Switch essentially replaces the 3DS. Which is good, the 3DS was.... okay... but the Switch is just muuuuch better. In my case, I can actually...

I liked the older AVGN videos. There was an awareness there that these were dumb videos about an average dumbass getting angry about video game BS in the time when widespread internet access was new and this sort of thing was novel. The more recent videos have been embarrassing to watch, honestly. ...

Oops. Maybe I didn’t clarify. I’m a casual gamer. I didn’t realize we were talking about competition. I thought you all meant casual groups. I love fighting games like Tekken, Dead or Alive and Mortal Kombat but play on the easiest difficulty. I’m not pretty enough to be a real female gamer anyway....

Yeah I was going to say similarly that it doesn't matter how long you've been playing games, you're getting to get your ass handed to you in most games without knowing the mechanics in depth in a way you'd never learn yourself just casually playing the game, and other aspects such as the multiplaye...

Theres probably a friendly smash bros group near you. They will probably be far better than you at the game but could give you advice As for games the switch has a tonne of indie games on the e shop. Youtube "best e shop games switch" I don’t think someone who has been playing video games...

I have never played Super Mario Maker, but I imagine I'd love it. I have fond memories of playing some good Super Mario World romhacks (and a lot of bad ones too, but I imagine that experience is also preserved in Mario Maker). Now if only someone would make a Super Metroid Maker... Oh yeah, it's a...

Aye, big fan here, always have been.

My own favorite episode was the one about Action 52.

I'm playing no man's sky. Reviews made it sound lousy but it's incredible. Ehh, the reviews were kinda correct.... when the game released. It's been two years now, and the game is so different that it's as if it became it's own sequel. Quite impressive, what they've done. Even alot of people that p...

Hm, your PS3 is freezing up? Shouldnt be doing that. Yeah, PCs do it, but PCs are also powered by Windows (blegh) most of the time and are high on complexity. And are very easy for users to make mistakes on. Consoles though... if a console starts locking up even a bit, something is wrong. Too often ...

I agree. I don't understand when people say they long for games like in the 'good old days'. There's no shortage of that sort of game at all, rather it's the complete opposite - there's so much that it takes quite some effort to sift through what's available. There's tons of sprite based adventure ...

I find the concept interesting, though I've never tried one.

Oddly, I actually found one at the local mall the other day, which doesnt make a lick of sense to me, but the fact that it's there sure says something about the popularity of the concept.

But they're not like that any more. Same genre, different games. Games where the graphics were s**t, so all you had was story and/or gameplay. Of all the 100's of games I've played over the years I find it hard to beat the basic gameplay and control of the original Super Mario Kart, a game where th...

I honestly can cry over basically anything. Always been that way. I'll deliberately avoid anything that promises to be sad in any way because I just cant deal with it. So there's been plenty of games like that. I can think of one really notable example though: In Illusion of Gaia (also called Illusi...

The good old days when you had to buy a magazine for the walkthrough! Oh geez, I remember those. I dunno about everyone else, but I really miss them. I usually didnt actually NEED them to get through a game, but I still liked reading them. Sometimes I could find out about interesting tactics I neve...

Basically, what it actually is, is level design that wasnt REALLY worked through to the proper degree. When done right, levels/areas/whatever are tested specifically for things like this. Hell, I've had to do it myself. The testing is an annoying process, but if you as the developer want players to ...
