One factor that is always overlooked is that ABA "therapy" stresses absolute compliance to instruction - and not being able to say "NO" without fear of negative consequences.

I didn’t know about that. That’s really disturbing.

It actually doesn't, though.

Full transition is not the final goal or ultimate solution for a lot of trans-people. People should be free to decide their path, and how long they follow it. Many trans-people deal with depression / suicidal thoughts, not because they can't transition (either because they already did, or because th...

Trump Says He Would End Ukraine/Russian Conflict in 24 Hours. I'll be sure to add this to my list of his most egregious lies. If he can do it, why does he not just freaking DO IT?! Nono, it might be true. All he said was he would "end the conflict". He never specified HOW he'd "end t...

Is it just me, or does the lack of romantic opportunities often inspire those who lack romantic opportunities to declare new rules for who can and cannot have those romantic opportunities? It is not just you. Also worth note, they are often disinclined to be held to the same rules they seek to enfo...

^ Are you objectifying women as fruit now? Tsk tsk. Besides, who doesn’t like mango? This ape has no sense of taste. I think TW would be a pineapple, she is too….spiky. Bold of you to assume the man isn't the fruit. After all, it is a MANgo. As in, man go "if you no like me in particular, you ...

An ape that likes every fruit in the jungle except mango, will still be perceived as picky, by the mango. Rather than fret about the apes that don't like mango, find someone to monkey around with that does. And maybe those other apes do in fact like mango, it's just that you've gone sour and bitter ...

Well, yeah - it's a therapist's job to help you understand yourself, not to tell you who other people are. Your potential to misreport or incompletely report applies to chatgpt just as much as it does to a therapist, with one big disadvantage - chatgpt is a machine, and doesn't have actual true huma...

Taking meaningless things and massaging them until they "hit with your gut" sounds like a literal definition of confirmation bias. Over time, it may convince you you're "right" (even if you aren't), but I'm still not sure it actually leads to anything meaningful - other than self...

I think everyone is different, and cannot be divided into handy convenient pockets in which to place them for future reference. Regardless of IQ, the hardest people to teach are the ones who refuses to listen or learn, while the easiest to teach are those most receptive to new information with a wil...

If it has been three years without sex in a relationship that started with only a few months of sex, I think you seriously need to consider breaking up with her, as hard as that may be emotionally. That was two years ago and we are still close friends. Friends . What's to "break up" with?...

There's a lotta assumptions and suppositions embedded in this proposed method. Not sure they hold as much water as y'all think they do.

Stop taking every little thing personally. If you are gonna take something personally, own it, and take it as an opportunity to improve yourself, rather than whine and lament. You'll never accomplish anything if you spend all your time convinced it's not possible to achieve it. You won't even take t...

Let's not forget - first she declared that Dumbledore was gay, thus making the anti-LGBT crowd angry - THEN she revealed her TERF-y-ness, and made the pro-LGBT crowd angry. That's a big chunk of people to alienate all at once.

Before that, the criticism she received seemed pretty average.
