I quite like it. So far it seems better than Young Sheldon. He doesn't seem terribly sterotypical e.g. He shows emotion but also bolts and run i.e. Impulse control issues granted only when in intense/emergency situations when unable to verbally explain so we'll see. He's aware that other people can/...

One of the books I'm reading suggests typing out a one page description of autism, as it affects you personally, to help family members and employers, if you choose to disclose, better understand you. They also recommended something like a business card with a few key points you can give people. I ...

I would necessarily call it selective mutism. Selective mutism is usually more consistent and tied to being outside the home/ a comfortable place. Going mute situationally like when angry/tired is more like a partial shutdown i.e. Internal meltdown.

Sensory overload is often different in females (we shut down more than we melt down). When I was younger, I would scream and cry say around 8 or 9 but now I now when it's coming, I get short with people, start answering questions in only 1 or 2 words all my brain processes slow down and the if you p...

Have you done any reading on oppositional defiance disorder? This may be what your son has since you just said he was on the spectrum and not a specific diagnosis, so pardon me if ODD is old news to you, but it sounds like your son. You mentioned his stims are self injurious, does he have sensory to...

I frequently view your posts. I was just thinking about how much you remind me of myself. I also have NVLD but believe it is just a symptom of AS. I often read the articles you post and forget to comment. Other times I don't reply because I have the same issues myself and don't really have any advic...

Yes, it's frustrating. It makes me wish sometimes that I were nonverbal because I feel like everyone would be "easier" on me. I just turned 17 a couple of weeks ago and my dad does the same thing but I think it's because he can't handle the idea of me having certain issues. he'll say thing...

I know that you mentioned before that you have some auditory processing difficulties but you scored 71/100 on that test from a few days ago. So maybe text to speech software/apps/plugins or just audio books. I find that I can't focus on reading unless I'm listening to it. It also helps me read a lot...

There would be a problem if Alex had 99 kids, though.

Perhaps Bob would have 49 biological children and one step child.

Gender variance and unique sexuality are more common in autistic people. As a Christian (albeit not catholic) and a heterosexual with many LGBT friends I think of the issue as something like this: God told the Jews not to eat pork. Most people who've had it love bacon thus we know bacon is good and...

Were people born with Aspergers? I'm trying to understand things if I do stuff because I have Asperger or I have Cerebral Pasly, I know I was born with Cerebral Pasly. Same here I was born with CP and believe I have Aspergers. It's hard because CP can cause sensory issues and being in a wheelchair ...
