What are your thoughts as to why? An increased level of background stress, chemical or physical changes? |

Yep, that's me. Not understanding a name (esp. with background noise or o/w stressed). Sometimes I will say "what" as I am hearing what was said. Wait for it, wait for it... |

It would definitely be useful for him to be engaged again... in something. AANE has online groups for young adults. My mom is "stuck" right now facing a big move. My good-executive-functioning dad and sibling are besides themselves with frustration. (All my life my dad has complained "... |

Same as any typing: True for some, not all. It should be applied where it fits and not overapplied. I am glad there is attention to alternate presentations that many women, some men and some gender-fluid or non-binary folks experience. My ASD mom, myself, BFF and daughter are all the "well-beha... |

When I was very young I enjoyed my same-gendered (female) friend; she was probably ND. In the middle of life (teens-mid 30s), I had opposite-gendered (male) friends. In my 40s I made same-gendered (female) friends again. (Like hurtloam, my male friends got married and most of their wives don't like ... |

I would soooooo like to dress up and "show off". I do so on occasion when I am with my husband and am "safe" that way. I also got drunk once with him, to see what it's like. But o/w I won't b/c bad things too often happen to inebriated women. Must be in control. Must not relax. M... |

I was depressed from age 8 until near 40. In my mid 30s I started wondering that I wasn't really depressive, that it was circumstantial. In my late 40s it was confirmed that untreated anxiety was the primary factor all along. Good luck in your self-exploration. |

I did the same, aside my engineering degree I studied advanced psychology and communication. I took drama from a young age and practiced expressing myself "appropriately" and using scripts. My 10-year-old ASD-like daughter (DX still pending) has already taken it upon herself to educate her... |

I hear ya' magz. I still dress down to avoid unwanted attention. I also had one particularly horrid subway experience. I was fortunate that the sexual harassment/assaults I experienced were relatively minor. Many women I know can't say the same. My husband admits he initially chose me for my looks, ... |

..I don’t think we are going backwards so much as remaining stagnant. I suspect that this is related to high levels of religiosity. My company went predominantly BACKWARDS. Its merger was during the previous presidential term and some women believe it gave "permission" for poorer behavior... |

My ASD traits are relative to my environment - gentle environment, gentle traits; stressful environment, pronounced traits. I've gained skills, but also I face higher demands these days. My ASD mom's traits lessened when her life demands lessened, but now in her late 70s as demands are increasing (h... |

I have Asperger's *and* I'm left-handed. I should have died in my early 30's. LOL - Me too (and I'm your age-ish). I've stayed away from standard power tools, struggled with (and failed) right-handed instructions A LOT, and survived numerous soup attacks from buffets' right-hand biased ladle... |
