I think that anybody and any views outside of the outright bigoted should be accepted here. I don't think it matters whether a person is diagnosed, self-diagnosed or NT, though it still feels hard for me to accept some accounts from self-diagnosed 'very high-functioning' autistics as autism. I don'... |

And if you were very obvious in not fitting in you were locked up in a cruel sensory hell institution. Your family was told by doctors that you would never recover and that family members were told they should remove from thier residence all pictures, any mementos, any reminder of you at all. That i... |

I doubt somebody knew in advance this guy was going to shoot up a school and therefore in an effort to frame autistic people created a fictitious post claiming to be his mom in advance. If indeed this is the case I am not paranoid enough, am underestimating Autism Speaks and need to escape to some d... |

His mother said online he was an aspie, he was enrolled in a special needs school noted for having autistics in it, and you can't get in a special needs school without a official diagnosis of some kind. Add the descriptions of loner, special interests. I can't conclusively say he was a aspie but it ... |

As a male growing up in the era prior to the understanding of the autism and radical change in acceptance of gender and gender roles if you were stoic that was looked upon well, But quiet and non aggressive was looked upon as weakness. Not having a sexual relations with girls was looked up as bieng ... |

Reading the above posts, I'm still unsure what is wrong with wanting to improve executive functioning skills which are typically inherently lacking in autistics, myself included. This isn't conforming. This is improving an area of deficiency which most of us share. Same as dyspraxia. Improving moto... |

The greater number of "cure" articles posted increases the likelihood that an article that contains an actual cure will be posted. Zero times anything is still zero. Never say never. I just have seen so many things happen that I thought were utterly impossible that I can't dismiss the pos... |

Corporate buzzwords. I feel like they are speaking in code, or some sort of secret gang slang. Often times I don't know what they are talking about. I've heard all of these used, unfortunately: “Listen Ray, I don’t have the bandwidth for it with everything that’s on my plate, but ping me anyway bec... |

It is not the average employee or PR person that will give you the answer. Even John Robinson who resigned said the employees there are good caring people who want to do right by autistics. The answer boils down to what is in the minds of the board members and the Wright's which is unknowable Withou... |

**Details of twisted letter left behind by Oregon college gunman as it's revealed he had Asperger's and was kicked out of the Army in 2008** Officially diagnosed, or just "according to mom"? Far to early to conclude he was an aspie but it is a realistic possibility. He was in a special ne... |

The accusation by the OP is not that some autistics are using as an excuse, or a few autistics are using it as an excuse but that we as a group are using it as an excuse and because of this society looks down upon us. The problem with this is that some autistics really can't do it and others are tr... |
