While I now prefer the superior quality of newer formats, thank you dear old VHS for that early miracle of when "home video" was new to us all. Rest in peace!

I still have a VCR and some old tapes. I never use it or them but I kind of want to keep them around.

And those movies on the few channels on TV were full of commercials which we have gone back to. They were heavily censorsed and sliced and diced to fit time constraints. When videos first came out there were no commercials and no blockbuster stores. Just your friendly local video store with not only the hit movies but the wierd and yes "adult" videos behind the curtain in the back.

Also, there were the old Video Disks as well, but they died out in the mid-80's as VHS became more affordable. When I started to see the first consumer VHS decks appear @ 1976/77, they sold for about $1,000, which was a hefty sum back in those days.

^ Adjusted for inflation, that comes to $4229 in today's money.

I saw a pack of 3 blank VHS tapes in a supermarket recently, brought back some memories. I'm now intrigued if anyone has bought them yet!
