I cannot decide how to organize my documents...

i have a multitude of stuff (text, video, audio, pictures, html) relating to one event (holiday, work placement, etc)

im not sure whether i should have one folder in documents relating to the event

OR

to have a folder for that event in each of my movie, picture, audio etc sub folders.

One folder, good file names to identify them so you can use search if there is too many files to scroll through them.
One folder also restricts the search to that one folder if you need to search.

Yep, one folder for each project or event makes things easier to find and keep organized.

Have the audio organised as follows:

artist : albums : tracks

you can use MP3tag to organise the files, combined with winamp.
